Regarding a Peace Rally in The Loop, Mr. Ware stated that it may be a good
opportunity to find out what the needs of the youth are; however, not all youth will
embrace the idea of a peace rally and we should find a way to reach those youth also.
Mr. Ware also mentioned that the mission of the Task Force is to look for alternative
opportunities for young people. We need to address what we can do to help young
people and look at any opportunity and there must be an ongoing commitment from the
community.
It was also mentioned that some young people have family issues and need a support
structure. This could be in the form of a center for teens to be able to go and study or
relax.
Ms. Carter asked the Task Force members to review the agenda and asked for a
motion to approve the agenda if no changes were necessary.
The agenda was approved as written.
It was noted that several Task Force members were not able to attend the meeting.
Ms. Carter asked the Task Force members to review the meeting minutes from May 5,
2011.
Task Force members discussed the meeting minutes. It was suggested that rather than
just following the conversation, the minutes should also include topics discussed. The
Task Force members also stated that all action items should be summarized in the
minutes. Mr. Ware added that the minutes are notes of what occurred at the meeting
and action items should be included. Task Force members agreed that all decisions
made at a meeting should be included in those meeting minutes.
The meeting minutes from May 5, 2011 were approved.
Old Business
Ms. Carter stated that the survey does not need a cover sheet. It will not be included in
surveys that are distributed. Also, the question “Do seniors want shuttle service?” will
be added to the survey.
Ms. Robards asked about the survey including a general question about transportation,
if a general question is asked, will we get the information we’re looking for?
Ms. Carter asked for a vote on both the youth survey and the senior survey.
The youth survey was approved.
The senior survey was approved.
tm; šE
