Session 1666, Minutes <br />May 15, 1996 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Maintenance which is mainly for complete Bermuda grass seeding for the fairways; on page C-64, there <br />is a large decrease in 732.01 Agricultural Supplies since less grass seed will be needed because of the <br />Bermuda grass. The increase in 732.18 Recreational Supplies is for driving mats. <br /> <br />3530 Recreation (pag~ C-67). Ms. Trombly noted an increase in 711.10 Regular Employee Pay, which <br />reflects the reallocation of personnel in this department. The increase in 713.00 Temporary and Part- <br />time Pay will fund personnel for new programs. Mr. Ollendorff noted that Recreation was attempting <br />to have programs for all ages. Under Contractual Services, 721.05 Reception and Entertainment was <br />for a Fitness Fair and Halloween celebration. 722.02 Local Transportation reflects additional funds for <br />the summer playground program to move children to different sites. Under Commodities, 732.06 Food <br />is for a third recreation club, at Delmar-Harvard School (the others are at Daniel Boone and Pershing). <br />Mrs. Thompson offered to give Ms. Trombly information about food available through an agricultural <br />program for summer recreational programs. There is also an increase in 732.18 Recreational Supplies <br />for the new program. Ms. Trombly said the at~er-school programs have received a lot of positive feed- <br />back. On page C-68 under Capital Oufiay, 742.10 Miscellaneous Improvements is for developing future <br />recreational programming. Mr. Ollendorff pointed out that all the information under Summary of <br />Personal Services on page C-68 is for this year; the reorganization is not yet finished. Responding to <br />Mr. Wagner, Ms. Trombly said it was felt lifeguards will be found for the morning lap swim. <br /> <br />3540 Community Cenler (page C-70). MS. Trombly said the increase in 711.10 Regular Employee Pay <br />is again due to reallocation and upgrading of personnel. Under Contractual Services, 721.02 Architec- <br />tural & Engineering Consultant Services is to hire a decorating consultant to make the Center more <br />attractive. The increase in 726.03 Miscellaneous Equipment Repairs is to repair a heating unit. On page <br />C-71,729.01 Cleaning and Painting is for window and steam cleaning. Responding to Mr. Lieberman, <br />Mr. Ollendorff said the Community Center revenue is much less than its cost of operation, and it will <br />probably never be self-mpporting. Under Capital Outlay, 743.08 Office Furniture and Equipment is for <br />a computer system; 743.11 Radio & Communication Equipment is for an alarm system. A new stage <br />and new refrigerator are in 743.04 Institutional Supplies. <br /> <br />3550 Aquatics (page C-74). MS. Trombly said this includes the recreation part of swimming. In 711.10 <br />Regular Employee Pay, a position has been reclassified which is called Superintendent of Sports and <br />Aquatics. Also, a new recreation supervisor was added. Responding to Mr. Lieberman, Ms. Trombly <br />said personnel costs will be higher under the reorganization discussed earlier. The large increase under <br />721.10 Miscellaneous Outside Personal Services is for an alarm system. She noted 725.04 Water and <br />725.05 Sewer, both of which are less than this year since it is believed most of the pool leaks have been <br />repaired. Under 732.08, the increase is for fans for the concession area. Under Capital Outlay, 742.10 <br />Miscellaneous Improvements is for repaving the concession stand area; 743.04 Institutional Equipment <br />is for replacing tables and umbrellas; and 743.12 Office Equipment is for the computer system. Mr. <br />Ollendorffreferred to the organization chart, noting there were two promotions for current employees, <br />and two new employees working under them. Mr. Schoomer felt the School District probably couldn't <br />continue to operate the Natatorium much longer, and he suggested that the various options, costs. etc. <br />be studied since he would not want to see the operation closed down. <br /> <br /> <br />
