Approval of Minutes October 12, 2011

Commissioner Brot made a motion to approve the minutes from the October, 2011 Traffic
Commission meeting, seconded by Commissioner Nichols and unanimously approved.

2. Request to approve a Residential Parking Permit for Kingsland Avenue between
Kingsbury Avenue and the alley north of Kingsbury Avenue.

Commissioner Henderson presented the petition item and requested the Traffic
Commission to provide comments. Commissioner Brot stated for the record that at the
last Traffic Commission meeting not all the information was provided to the Commission.
Some of the Commissioners were under the impression that there was no parking
provided behind the 6803 Kingsbury building, and at today’s meeting it was clarified that
there is more parking behind the building which makes a difference in the decision making
process. The Trinity Presbyterian Church located at 6800 Washington (property side on
Kingsland Avenue) has submitted a letter with many parking concerns including the high
parking demand especially during special events at the church and at other public places
in the surrounding area. Commissioner Brot stated all these concerns need to be
considered as part of this petition request. A short discussion took place regarding the
amount of parking spaces needed versus the amount of spaces provided on the
surrounding streets and on private property.

Mrs. Gutierrez explained that this is a petition for Residential Parking Permit only to
request the designation of residential parking permit on the west side of Kingsland
Traffic Commission Minutes – November 9, 2011 Page 1
