<br />Meeting minutes of the Board of Trustees for the University City Public Library for September <br />21, 2011 <br /> <br />Attendance <br />Members Present: <br /> Luise Hoffman, Serena Jones, Joy Lieberman, Larry Nolan, David Stokes <br /> William Baldwin, Deborah A. Arbogast <br />Members Absent: <br />Susan Glassman (excused) <br /> <br />City Council Liaison: <br />Steve Kraft <br /> <br />Library Staff: <br />Patrick Wall-Director, Christa Van Herreweghe <br />Guest Janet Watson <br /> <br />___________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />The meeting of the University City Public Library Board was called to order at 5:15 PM by <br />Larry Nolan, President <br /> <br />Minutes <br />The minutes from the July meeting were approved with corrections <br /> <br />Tax Rate <br />The new residential tax rate, per Becky Webb, is .241. The gain was attributed to CPI and new <br />construction. Per Janet Watson the TIFF for the central Olive district has ended. <br />A motion was made to use the rate as proposed. Motion passed. <br /> <br />Correspondence <br /> A contribution from a block party in the amount of $35 was received. <br /> Thank you notes were received for the food drive contribution and the purchase of large print <br />books. <br /> <br /> <br />Linda Ballard joined the Friends. <br /> <br />(full report attached) <br /> <br />Circulation is down slightly <br /> <br />The electricity use is up and the library was closed for one-half day due to a power <br />outage. <br /> <br />John Douglas will not be accepting reappointment. Beth Ostroff has been nominated by <br />Mayor Shelly Welsch as a new board member. Joy Lieberman has been reappointed by <br />Councilman Kraft. <br /> <br />Grant Update: A second $500 MasterCard grant for Youth Services was received, <br />a Server grant was received to replace a server and software, a grant for attendance at a <br />technology conference, a gallery grant and grant for a traveling exhibit on Lincoln and <br />the Constitution. The mobile computer lab is up and funded through a grant. <br /> <br />
