RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a regular election was held in the City of University City, Missouri, on Tuesday, <br />April 2, 1996, to elect a Mayor for a two-year term, and a Councilmember from the First, Second, and <br />Third Wards for a four-year term each, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said election was conducted according to the laws of the State of Missouri, the City <br />Charter and Ordinancos of the City of University City, and the rules and regulations promulgated by the <br />Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis County, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the following were candidates for the respective office as shown: <br /> <br />Joseph L. Adams <br />Kwame Thompson <br /> <br />Lawrence Lieberman <br /> <br />Wayne I. Munkel <br />Jay L. Kanzler, Jr. <br />Gregory Alan Barnes <br /> <br />Betty L. Thompson <br /> <br />Mayor <br />Mayor <br /> <br />Councilmember, First Ward <br /> <br />Councilmember, Second Ward <br />Councilmember, Second Ward <br />Councilmember, Second Ward <br /> <br />Councilmember, Third Ward <br /> <br />AND WHEREAS, the following propositions were on the same ballot as shown: <br /> <br />PROPOSITION U <br /> <br />Shall the City of University City, Missouri, impose a sales tax of one-half of one percent for the purpose <br />of funding capital improvements which may include the retirement of debt under previously authorized <br />bond indebtedness? <br /> <br />PROPOSITION C <br /> <br />Shall University City Charter Section 7 be amended effective April 2, 1996, to increase the compensation <br />of the councilmembers to $2,400 per year, and of the mayor to $4,800 per year? Charter Section 7, as <br />so amended, shall stat~ as follows: <br /> <br />Compensation of the councilmembers shall be the sum of two thousand four hundred <br />dollars ($2,400) in any consecutive twelve (12) months during his or her term of office, <br />and compensation of the mayor shall be the sum of four thousand eight hundred dollars <br />($4,800) in any twelve (12) consecutive months during his or her term of office. <br /> <br /> <br />
