Regular Meeting of the Park Commission City of University City November 22, 2011 Centennial Commons, 7210 Olive Blvd. President John Sweeney called the meeting to order at 6:32 pm. Other members present were: Karen Dille Andrea Riganti, Director of Community Development William Field Lynda Euell-Taylor, Recreation Superintendent Karen Palmer Lynn Ricci, Council Liaison (arrived at 6:44 pm) Linda Peoples Excused Absence: Gwendolyn Gaines-Beckwith, Caryn St. Clair Disposition of Minutes from October 25, 2011 Minutes reviewed. The following corrections were indicated:  Mr. Sweeney read an email from Ms. St. Clair which stated: a.)Under Park Reports – Ms. Dille will report on both Rabe and Millar Parks; Ms. St. Clair will report on Heman Park and retain Ruth Park Woods. b.) Under New Business – it was she who brought up the need for a Family Changing Room at Heman Park Swimming Facility and Ms. Glickert spoke in support of the idea.  Mr. Field indicated the minutes should reflect he was not opposed to the Heman Pool policy of maintaining the current practice of allowing patrons (with paid admission, card swipe, etc.) admittance to facility, and if entering water they must have proper swim attire  Mr. Sweeney indicated the minutes should reflect his abstention to the Heman Pool policy of continuing with the current practice of “music days” and “non-music” days; providing family friendly radio stations and appropriate volume level. Ms. Dille moved to approve minutes with corrections, Mr. Field seconded. Vote taken: all approved. Citizen’s comments on items not on Agenda – None Department Report Ruth Park Golf Manager, Doug Castellari gave an overview of his plans to increase Ruth Park Golf Course usage. Mr. Sweeney inquired about the status of the driving range study. Ms. Riganti reported the study is still incomplete; hopefully an update will be available by January 2012, which will be presented to the commission by Mr. Walker and Mr. Winker.
