<br />Park Commission Minutes – 112211, pg. 2 <br /> <br />Ms. Riganti reported on the following: <br /> <br />Gave an overview of Public Works/Parks merger and will provide to the commission an organizational chart <br />with staff names added <br /> <br />Mooney Playground - Essentially complete, a few punch list items to attend to, and ground repairs. The <br />playground is open and looks very good. <br /> <br />Flynn Playground - Work continues on the construction. We had hoped it would be completed by early <br />December; but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. The school construction delays have had an impact <br />on the playground completion date. <br /> <br />Staff is working on Fiscal Year 2012-13 budget; draft will be presented at January meeting for commission’s <br />review. <br /> <br />Staff is developing informational criteria process for all boards and commissions <br /> <br />Ms. Riganti presented plans for Kingsland Walk Apartments/Retail Space complex and indicated additional <br />plans will be present to Park Commission at a future meeting <br /> <br />Council Liaison Report <br />Ms. Ricci reported the following: <br />• <br /> New Public Works/Parks Director, Richard Wilson starts November 28, 2011. <br /> <br />• <br /> New firehouse was approved by a majority of the City Council. <br /> <br />• <br /> Fiscal Year 2012-13 budget process is going on now; will provide budget calendar to commission <br />members; Public Hearing was held November 17, 2011. <br /> <br />• <br /> Parkview Gardens/Green Practices meeting was recently held; very exciting, very visionary, more in- <br />depth information provided. <br /> <br />Mr. Sweeney inquired about the status of the special event fee waiver policy. Ms. Ricci indicated the City <br />Manager is still reviewing and the decision will be reported at a future meeting. <br /> <br />Individual Park Reports <br /> <br /> William Field – Ruth Park Golf Course: looks very good; Metcalfe/Ackert Parks: no changes <br /> <br />Karen Dille – Millar Park – due to heavy rains, parking lot is retaining water; Heman Park – more of the utility <br /> poles need replacing. <br /> <br />Linda Peoples – Greensfelder and Fogerty Parks – both look great; expressed concern regarding playground <br />safety surface at some park playground areas, but not at others. Ms. Dille indicated as <br />playgrounds are replaced, their surfaces are updated with the newer safety surface. Ms. <br />Peoples requested Ms. Riganti provide the commission with the playground replacement <br />schedule. <br /> <br />Karen Palmer – Kaufman Park – looks good <br /> <br /> <br />
