Municipal <br /> Goals Actions <br />1 Improve Air Quality (AQ) <br />and Reduce Carbon <br />Emissions Produced by <br />Vehicle Use <br />a Institute a City-wide campaign to encourage alternative forms of transportation <br />b Institute a rider finders program for employee commute; match employees who live in the <br />same vicinity and encourage carpooling. <br />c Identify for employees alternative transportation modes available. <br />d <br /> <br />Offer pre-tax Metro incentives or provide subsidy to encourage use of public transportation <br />[Metro’s Partial Expense Reduction for Commuters Program (PERC)]. <br />e Obtain commitment from employees to use alternative mode of transportation at least one <br />day per week <br />f Institute a “guaranteed ride home” program. <br />g Increase number of carpool parking spaces at City facilities and enforce parking violations. <br />h Enhance employee break room to encourage employees to brown bag their lunch. <br />i Encourage employees to begin Ten Toes Express by Citizens for Modern Transit. <br />j Work with St. Louis County to install bike lanes on all major St. Louis County arterials, including <br />Delmar, Hanley, Midland, Big Bend, and North and South. <br />k Send email blast to employees when poor air quality is expected the next day to encourage <br />use of alternative modes of transportation. <br />l Replace all city vehicles with vehicles that use alternative fuel sources (hybrid, compressed <br />natural gas, electric). <br />m Require employees to fuel City vehicles early in the morning before 10 am or in the evening <br />after 7 pm. <br />n Educate employees on the best time fuel their vehicles. <br />o Where possible, compress employee work schedule to a four day week; Close City Hall on <br />Fridays. <br />p Where possible, offer flex time that allows employees to work shifts that are before or after <br />rush hour. <br />q Where possible permit telecommuting by employees. <br />r Replace all gas powered vehicles with equipment that uses alternative fuel. <br /> <br />s Increase number of trees planted by the City to insure that the number of trees planted <br />exceed the number of trees lost <br />t Enact ordinance to regulate tree removal and replacement on all properties
