Commercial/Industrial <br /> Goals Actions <br />1 Improve Air Quality (AQ) <br />and Reduce Carbon <br />Emissions Produced by <br />Vehicle Use <br />a Encourage businesses to implement a Clean Air Campaign and encourage use of alternative <br />forms of transportation <br />b Install in City Website an air quality index email blast function to alert residents of expected <br />poor air quality days <br />c Educate and encourage business owners to eliminate use of gas powered lawn mowers and <br />leaf blowers <br />d Encourage use of alternative forms of transportation <br />e Work with School District to reduce idling by school buses <br />f Encourage School District to institute a “Walk to School Campaign” <br />g Install bike racks in commercial centers of the city including the Loop; along Olive; <br />Kingsland/Vernon; North and South/Delmar <br />h Ban drive-thru feature in all new commercial establishments <br />i Require all parking lots to have trees planted in the medians as part of the zoning code <br />j Promote anti-idling at all commercial establishments that have drive thru feature <br />k Encourage ownership of plug-in electric vehicles, as they become available and in use, by <br />providing charging stations in parking lots
