This five member board must, “balance the <br />interests of the public –ratepayers as well as company shareholders.” Warren <br /> <br />Wood, Director of theUtility Operations Division of the Missouri Public Service <br />Commission is responsible for four departments: Telecommunications; Energy; <br />Water and Sewer; and Manufactured Housing. Staff supports the Commission in <br />meeting its statutory responsibilities by providing technical expertise in energy <br />safety; utility rates, tariffs, rules and regulations; economic analysis; engineering <br />oversight and investigations; and construction inspections. Matt Blunt issued an executive order declaring a state of emergency in <br />response to heavy precipitation, whiteout conditions, high winds, and ice that <br />have affected communities throughout Missouri. More than 250,000 Missourians <br />were reportedly without power. State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) <br />is still making the argument to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) <br />to provide federal reimbursement for the additional cost to local governments. <br />Mayor Adams approved a similar resolution regarding a State of Emergency for <br />University City. St. Louis County Municipal League is assisting with fact-finding <br />and information consolidation required in order to receive federal assistance for <br />the recent storm.
