SESSION 1658 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> January 22, 1996 <br /> <br />At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City held in the Council Chamber of City Hall <br />on Monday, January 22, 1996, Mayor Joseph L. Adams presided and called the meeting to order at <br />7:30 p.m. In addition to the Mayor, the following members of the Council were present: <br /> <br />Mr. George R. Cotton (arrived at 7:37 p.m.) <br />Mr. Robert G. Wagner <br />Mrs. Mary V. Schuman <br />Mr. Paul E. Schoomer <br />Mrs. Betty L. Thompson <br /> <br />Also present was City Manager Frank Ollendorff. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner moved approval of the January 8, 1996, minutes as submitted. Mr. Schoomer seconded <br />the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENT S/P~APPOINTMENT S <br /> <br />Mrs. Schuman moved the appointment of Mrs. Julianne C. Niemann, 7911 Stanford, to the Board <br />of Trustees of the Uniformed and Non-uniformed Employees Retirement Funds for an unexpired term <br />ending July 1, 1999 Mr. Wagner seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams moved the reappointments of Ms. Jane E. Gibbons, 561 Bedford; Mr. Jerry L. Fitch, <br />1404 Partridge; and Mr. Steven J. Poplawski, 7219 Cornell, to the Park Commission for terms expir- <br />ing January 21, 1999. Mrs. Schuman seconded all three motions. All voted Aye. <br /> <br />OATHS OF OFFICE <br /> <br />Ms. Joy L. Wade and Ms. Jane L. Morris, both recently reappointed to the Municipal Commission <br />on Arts and Letters, were given the oath of office by the City Clerk. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams thanked Ms. Wade and Ms. Morris for their willingness to serve again, and also <br />thanked the Arts and Letters Commission for sponsoring a wonderful program yesterday at City Hall. <br /> <br />SPECIAL GUESTS <br /> <br />Mayor Adams recognized Boy Scout Troop 49 and Scoutmaster Gary Annenberg from First Presby- <br />terian Church in University City. The troop is working on citizenship badges. Applause followed. <br /> <br /> <br />
