HOURS OF SALE; SALE <br />ON SUNDAY: HOURS OF CLOSING." <br />Bill No. 8263 was 8iven its second reading. <br /> <br />Bill No. 8263 was given its third reading. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer moved approval. Mrs. Schuman seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as <br />follows: AYES: Councilmembers Cotton, Wagner, Schuman, Schoomer,. Thompson, and Mayor <br />Adams. NAYS: None. Bill No. 8263 became Ordinance No. 6046. <br /> <br />BII.I. NO. 8264 - IMPOSING A ONE-HALF OF ONE PERCENT SALES TAX ON ALL RETAIL <br />SAI.ES SUBJECT TO TAXATION UNDER SECTIONS 144.010-144.525 RSMO FOR THE PUR- <br />POSE OF FUNDING CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS, INCLUDING THEIR OPERATION AND <br />MAINTENANCE. AND PROVIDING FOR SUBMISSION OF A PROPOSITION AUTHORIZ- <br />ING SUCH TAX TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF UNIVERSITY CITY AT THE MUNICIPAL <br />ELECTION ON APRIL 2, 1996. <br />Bill No. 8264 was given its second reading. <br /> <br />Bill No. 8264 was given its third reading. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner moved adoption. Mr. Schoomer seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Wagner, Schuman, Schoomer, Thompson, Cotton, and Mayor Adams. <br />NAYS: None. Bill No. 8264 became Ordinance No. 6047. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams said if the voters approve this sales tax increase, the Council plans to roll back the <br />property tax by 30 cents (from $1.30 to $1.00/$100 assessed valuation). <br /> <br />BILL NO. 8265 - INCREASING THE COMPENSATION OF COUNCILMEMBERS TO $2,400 <br />PER YEAR AND THE MAYOR TO $4,800 PER YEAR, AND PROVIDING FOR SUBMISSION <br />OF A PROPOSITION TO AMEND CHARTER SECTION 7 TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS <br />OF UNIVERSITY CITY AT THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON APRIL 2, 1996, TO AUTHOR- <br />IZE SAID INCREASES. <br />Bill No. 8265 was given its second reading. <br /> <br />Bill No. 8265 was given its third reading. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schuman moved adoption. Mr. Cotton seconded. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: <br />Councilmembers Schuman, Schoomer, Thompson, Cotton and Mayor Adams. NAYS: Council- <br />member Wagner. The motion carried five to one. Bill No. 8265 became Ordinance No. 6048. <br /> <br />Mr. Cotton said this bill will increase salaries for councilmembers who are elected in April, 1996, or <br />later. <br /> <br /> <br />
