Session 1657, Minutes <br />January 8, 1996 <br /> <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT <br /> <br />The Police Department report for the month of December, 1995, was received and ordered filed. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mr. Cotton said the former National store at Olive and Hanley now operated by Schnuck's is to be <br />sold, and he would like the mayor or administration to communicate with the new owners and express <br />concern that the store is operated in a better manner than it has been under Schnuck's ownership. <br />Mayor Adams said he plans on contacting them as soon as new ownership is established. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer asked when the site plan for 7400 Olive will come before Council. Mayor Adams said <br />the updated plans w~re not received in time to get them to Council before this meeting; he expected <br />that staff will examine them and make recommendations to Council prior to the next meeting. <br /> <br />Flll.L FOR SECOND_ AND THIRD READINGS <br /> <br />BILL NO. 8225 - AMENDING CHAPTER 34 MUNICIPAL CODE BY CHANGING THE <br />CLASSIFICATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY AT OR NEAR 1000 PENNSYLVANIA FROM <br />"PR-O" PLANNED RESIDENTIAL-OFFICE TO "GC" GENERAL COMMERCIAL, AS SET <br />FORTH IN SECTION 34-9 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY ZONING CODE. <br />Mayor Adams asked the Council to remove Bill No. 8225 fi~om further consideration. Mr. Schoomer <br />moved that Bill No. 8225 be defeated. Mr. Wagner seconded the motion, and all voted Aye. <br /> <br />FiILLS FOR INTRQDUCTION <br /> <br />Mayor Adams said the following bill has an emergency clause; a new franchise is being formulated <br />by the City and Continental Cablevision but it is not yet ready for adoption. <br /> <br />BILL NO. 8262 - GRANTING A ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OF THE CURRENT FRANCHISE <br />TO CONTINENTAL CABLEVISION OF ST. LOUIS COUNTY TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE <br />AND MAINTAIN A CABLE TELEVISION SYSTEM IN UNIVERSITY CITY, AND SETTING <br />FORTH CONDITIONS ACCOMPANYING THE GRANTING OF SUCH EXTENSION; CON- <br />TAINING AN EMERGENCY CLAUSE. <br />A bill was introduced by Councilmember Schoomer, entitled: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OF THE CURRENT FRANCHISE <br />TO CONTINENTAL CABLEVISION OF ST. LOUIS COUNTY, INC., SO THAT CONTINEN- <br />TAL CABLEVISION OF ST. LOUIS COUNTY, INC., MAY CONTINUE TO OPERATE AND <br />MAINTAIN A CABLE TELEVISION SYSTEM IN THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MIS- <br />SOURI, AND SETtING FORTH CONDITIONS ACCOMPANYING THE GRANTING OF TH]E <br />FRANCHISE EXTENSION, AND CONTAINING AN EMERGENCY CLAUSE." <br /> <br /> <br />
