VERSION 1

CITIZEN COMMENTS ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS
Richard Docket, 6844 Crest Ave.
Mr. Docket said that the street lights on 6600 block of Crest have been out for over
six months. He said that Ameren UE is requesting a rate hike and they haven’t
begun to take care of the present problems, in a timely fashion.

COUNCIL COMMENTS
Ms. Ricci thought that Council was taking the time to discuss bills on their
first reading. She had wanted to discuss items on bills being introduced, bill
C-1-f
number 8920. Ms Ricci listed the following corrections or questions:
1.) 241.030 Officers & Rules of Procedures is not a part of the statute.
2.) the statute uses the word “any” tax but the University City version says “the”
tax.
3.) responsibility of each governing body instead of or,
4.) 241.080 the language in paragraph (a) is what the statute says yet the
statute is not clear, consequently this provision is not clear.
5.) 241.080, paragraph (b) the statute does not have a limitation of one page in
length. as stated in this bill.

Ms. Brot stated that previously Mayor Adams had said that he would announce the
names of his nominations for the Economic Development Retail Sales Tax board,
selected from those recommended by the Council. Mayor Adams responded that
he had originally planned to do so, but the City Manager had asked him to wait until
the St. Louis County Council made their one nomination.

Ms. Brot wanted to go on record thanking and complimenting City staff for the great
job done during the second recent extended electrical outage. Ms. Brot
encouraged people to attend any of the public meetings with Ameren UE to protest
their handling of the past two major electrical crises while simultaneously
introducing a rate increase. Mr. Price said that he was planning on joining Ms. Brot
in the protest to Ameren UE and was encouraging everyone to join him. She felt
that University City‘s staff needed to improve the communication with the citizens in
letting them know where help can be found in possible future crises.

Ms. Brot also reminded Councilmembers of the Big Read program and the pizza
lunch on February 17. She was looking for any suggestions for encouraging
community participation. Moreover she also encouraged everyone to attend,
“Hannah’s Suitcase”, a play by Metro Theater and Edison Theater, January 11 – 21,
as part of the Big Read program.

Ms. Brot announced about the second public meeting for the Sutter Meyer Society
which will include a report by the Mound City Archaeological Society on their
excavation of the grounds around Sutter Meyer farm house, the city’s oldest
standing home
