Traffic Commission 6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, Missouri 63130, Phone: (314) 862-6767, Fax: (314) 863-9146 CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY MINUTES OF THE TRAFFIC COMMISSION March 14, 2012 Commissioner Melcine Henderson called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. The members present were:  Jackie Womack  Catherine Nichols  Paulette Smith  Stefany Brot  Angelica Gutierrez, Public Works Liaison  Sinan Alpaslan, City Engineer  Shaun Margul, Police Department Representative Members not present:  Terry Crow, Council Liaison (excused)  Phyllis Blalock  Vacant position 1. Approval of Minutes January 11, 2012 Commissioner Brot made a motion to approve the minutes from the January 11, 2011 Traffic Commission meeting, seconded by Commissioner Smith and unanimously approved. 2. Request to install Stop or Yield signs at various intersections on the north-west quadrant of the City. Commissioner Henderson presented the traffic request submitted by Pamela Carter, th resident at 1455 78 Street, and explained the locations of the request as follows: thth 1. 78 Street – Wayne Avenue; Install two yield signs on 78 Street, to yield the right of way to Wayne Avenue Traffic. th 2. 78 Street – Milan Avenue; Install an ALL WAY Stop sign due to the geometry of th the intersection and lack of visibility on both Milan Avenue and 78 Street when approaching the intersection. 3. Milan Avenue – Erith Place; A sketch is attached - Figure No.1- for the proposed striping and signage at this intersection. The signage includes two (2) stop signs, two (2) yield signs, one (1) left turn prohibited and one (1) right turn prohibited, one Traffic Commission Minutes – March 14, 2012 Page 1
