<br />Mayor Welsch congratulated City Clerk Joyce Pumm with the designation of a Certified <br />Municipal Clerk from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch attended the I170 Joint Redevelopment Implementation Committee whose <br />members are now working through the issue of how to develop the Intergovernmental <br />Agreement. She attended the LOOP District Transportation Board and moderated the <br />community meeting to respond to questions from the public on the Trolley. She said the <br />Federal Transit Administrator should make their decision on the trolley by July 1. Mayor <br />Welsch hoped that the Taste of University City would be an annual event put on by the <br />Chamber of Commerce - it drew hundreds of people. She also attended the Loop Media <br />Hub meeting on a project that could bring great economic development to the area. The <br />The Mayor attended the Sustainable Land Use Code Audit meetings in City Hall that <br />partnered with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. University City was one of the 56 <br />cities that received funding for the conference. She also took part in the Bible Way Baptist <br />Church Block Party and the University City Park Foundation Tour of U City Parks. Mayor <br />said the City has seventeen parks and she believed U City has more parks per capitathan <br />any community in the region. She reminded everyone that the next Movie In the Park <br />would be July 11 at Lewis Park, “Akeelah and the Bee” and the movie, “How to Train Your <br />Dragon” at Fogerty Park had a good turn-out. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsh asked council if one late Citizen Comment could be heard and they agreed. <br /> <br />CITIZEN COMMENTS <br />Lindell Boyd, 1100 Kingsland <br />Mr. Boyd said the police do an outstanding job and sees them more frequently living in the <br />third ward. He noted that things happening in his neighborhood are not people who live <br />there but rather a whole different crop of kids coming over from the City a couple blocks <br />away. He said when he grew up in U City there were a summer playground camps that <br />kept kids occupied. Mr. Boyd said across the region there are not a whole lot of things for <br />the kids to do.
