Mr. Myers stated that there was currently a lot of green space proposed in front of City
Hall and encouraged the design team to integrate islands of green space. He added
encouraged the design team to integrate new poles to fit with the existing.

Mr. Nittler stated that the cobra-head lighting in The Loop is to be replaced with new
poles that would combine lighting and overhead contact wire.

Mr. Myers encouraged them to try to match the poles.

Jo Emerick with URS stated that the roundabout would include one lane coming into the
roundabout each way and one lane coming out.

Mr. Wesenberg asked how the proposed roundabout compared to the one near Forest
Park at Hampton and how the traffic volume would be handled. He also asked if the
curbing would stay the same through The Loop.

Mr. Nittler stated that all curbing would stay the same except for at trolley stops where it
would extend out.

Ms. Emerick stated that the single-lane roundabout would be sufficient based on traffic
modeling they had done.

The design team also stated that Mike King Drive would be a right-in / right-out
intersection.

Ms. Schmidt asked about how drivers would get to the Library. She added that the
Library parking was angled and Mike King Drive provided the only access to the Library.

Mr. Wesenberg added that it is a one-way parking aisle.

A question was asked about pedestrian crossing on Delmar. Ms. Emerick stated that
the proposed reconfiguration included narrowing the curbs and adding medians in the
center and that crossing Delmar would be safer.

Mr. Smith asked about the electrical connection for the end of the trolley line and the
need for a pole.

Mr. Nittler stated there would be one additional pole at the end.

The design team and HPC members discussed traffic flow. The design team stated that
the roundabout would function well based on traffic models.

Mr. Smith asked about the importance of the extra line with proposed vehicle storage.

Mr. Hubbman stated it was important for high volume during events in The Loop.

310
Page of
