Mr. Smith asked if they had explored other options for excess storage of trolley cars.
He added that this was a prominent space in the Historic District and maybe there could
be other options along the route besides using the area as shown.

Mr. Nittler stated there was storage at the other end near De Baliviere. He added that
the right-of-way is limited all along Delmar.

Mr. Smith asked why an extra car would need to be added at the end of the line rather
than anywhere else along the line.

Mr. Nittler stated he would find out if there were other feasible areas for storage.

Mr. Smith added that would not be a desirable area to have extra cars parked.

Mr. Hubbman stated that when extra cars would be stored there, it would only be for
major events and for maybe ten minutes.

Ms. Schmidt stated that it could serve as a place to store a car if there were to be a
breakdown.

Mr. Smith stated that there could be other options. He added that his concern is with
the guidelines in the district standards. He stated that they could possibly be creating
an obstruction within the district and asked if they had weighed all options available.

Mr. Hubbman stated that they would find out.

Mr. Nittler asked Mr. Smith if he was more concerned with poles or with storage of
vehicles.

Mr. Smith stated that if there were another way to arrange it and serve the same
purpose, perhaps there would be less impact. He stated that he would like to know
what alternatives had been explored.

Mr. Myers asked about the next steps in the design and refinement of the project. He
stated that it was a great opportunity for creating a civic plaza. He stated that the
proposed design is creating green space and in this area, with the lion gates and City
Hall it was a great opportunity. He noted that they had shown a rendering with a large
lawn area in front of City Hall.

Mr. Nittler stated that they were still going to work on finalizing those plans and that
landscaping would be part of that process.

Mr. Myers stated that as shown it was just a large, flat space and somewhat awkward.

Mr. Hubbman stated that it was not within the scope of the project to address this area.

Mr. Myers stated that beginning at Big Bend and Delmar there is a pattern established.

Mr. Hubbman agreed and that pattern is obvious as it goes from residential to civic to
410
Page of
