Mr. Lai asked if there was a landscape architect on the team.

There is a landscape architect on the team.

Mr. Nittler stated that they may need to work with University City on this in the future.

Mr. Lai asked about a grant that was awarded a couple years ago. He added that he
thought there was some money for roundabout improvement.

Mr. Nittler stated that the grant was awarded for improvements to pedestrian issues.

Mr. Myers asked if University City or the County would be involved.

Mr. Lai stated that Public Works would take the lead on this, with coordination with other
departments. Community Development staffs the HPC and depending on how
roundabout improvements evolve, there could be other boards involved; but for now it is
Public Works.

Mr. Alpaslan added that Traffic Commission and Arts and Letters could possibly be
involved.

Mr. Lai stated that it would be brought to the Plan Commission for informational
purposes only and that the HPC is a good forum to discuss these ideas.

Ms. Schmidt stated that another issue is the traffic into and out of the Public Library
parking lot.

Mr. Wesenberg asked if a traffic signal was planned.

Mr. Nittler stated that the signal at Mike King Drive and Delmar is currently controlled by
the Fire Department and once the trolley was installed and the Fire Department
relocated, the light would be controlled by trolley traffic. The light would be red when
the trolley crosses and green other times.

Mr. Wesenberg stated that access to the library is important.

Mr. Hubbman stated that the traffic is right-in / right-out at Mike King Drive due to the
roundabout and close proximity to the roundabout.

Mr. Smith asked if this could be solved by restriping the Library parking lot.

Ms. Schmidt stated that restriping could impact the signal at Delmar and Kingsland by
causing vehicle stacking as people try to turn into the Library from Kingsland. The
access would be very close to the intersection.

Mr. Hubbman stated they would be looking at the layout more closely, specifically
parking.

710
Page of
