Ms. Tr~ly <br />said that was correct; bids on renovation will be taken in January with Coun- <br />cil action in February. Renovation will take place frcm February to late <br />spring. Mr. Leindecker asked if construction could be delayed a little so at <br />least a shortened socoer season could be held, since hundreds of children <br />will be affected by the canoellation. He presented a petition with 139 sig- <br />natures a~king that every effort be made to aoc~m,~date tb~ soccer seasc~ in <br />some way. Ms. Trc~bly said the city was advised it would get more favorable <br />bids in winter ~han in the busy su~r construction season. She noted the <br />project has been scaled beck somewhat because earlier bids were so high. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schuman said she advised participants to try to find other facilities <br />during the construction period but tbmre are not enough places. She asked if <br />it was possible & socoer season could be put together on short notice if the <br />new bids are still too high. Ms. Trcmbly said until it is known what the <br />bids are, there is no definitive answer. <br /> <br />Mr. Tim M~Male, 7206 0olgate, said there are 700 children in tb~ league using <br />the facility every weekend. Out of 47 teams, 34 are associated with Univer- <br />sity City, and 75% of participants are University City residents. He said he <br />spoke with a large St. ~ contractor, who told him there was no difference <br /> <br /> <br />
