Session 1697, Minutes
May 19, 1997

10

accelerated from the last estimate she had heard. She suggested that University City repair the bridge
now and bill Overland and the Railroad.

Ms. Lisa Sutton, 8408 Braddock, says the closed bridge limits access and increases traffic significantly in
her neighborhood. The inconvenience is horrible. She wondered if any insurance money was received
by the truck company that caused the damage.

Ms. Alberta Lumpkin, 8210 Montreal, felt that the piled up stones at the bridge site was dangerous.
She has seen children playing there and she believes someone is going to get hurt.

Mr. Schoomer asked Mr. Ollendorff how much frontage the Railroad had. Mr. Ollendorff responded
that the railroad had two miles.

Mr. Ollendorff addressed the audience and assured them that their University City elected officials were
one hundred percent with them and would do everything in their powers to get the bridge fixed. All
reports and studies on the bridge status will be taken to the neighborhood meeting, that will be set up
shortly, so that any interested resident can take a look at them. Mayor Adams said that residents will
be notified of the date and time of the neighborhood meeting.

BILLS FOR INTRODUCTION:

A bill was introduced by Mr. Lieberman, entitled:

BILL NO. 8323 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE,
RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC, BY REPEALING SECTION 21-82 THEREOF,
RELATING TO STOP INTERSECTIONS, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION
TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 21-82. STOP INTERSECTIONS -- VEHICLES TO STOP AT
CERTAIN INTERSECTIONS," BY AMENDING SAID SECTION SO AS TO ESTABLISH STOP
SIGNS AT SPECIFIED LOCATIONS IN PARKVIEW AND UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS III
SUBDIVISIONS; CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Mr. Wagner moved that the Council meet in executive session at 8:48 p.m. in Room 6 of City Hall to
discuss personnel matters. Mr. Munkel seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES:
Councilmembers Munkel, Wagner, Lieberman, Schoomer, Thompson and Mayor Adams. Nays: NONE.

ADJOURNMENT

Mayor Adams announced that the next Council meeting is scheduled for June 9th at 7:30 p.m. Mayor
Adams adjourned the meeting at 8:40 p.m.

Leisha I(_ Meine, City Clerk
