<br /> <br />UNIVERSITY CITYCOUNCIL <br />STUDY SESSION <br />5th floor of City Hall <br />6801 Delmar <br />September 24, 2012 <br /> <br /> <br />th <br />The City Council Study Session was held in the Council Chamber on the 5 floor of City <br />Hall, on September 24, 2012. Mayor Shelley Welsch called the Study Session to order at <br />5:33 p.m. In addition to the Mayor Welsch, the following members of the Council were <br />present: <br /> <br />Ms. Paulette Carr <br />Mr. Stephen Kraft arrived at 6:00 p.m. <br />Mr. Terry Crow <br />Mr. Michael Glickert <br />Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br />Mr. Byron Price <br /> <br />Also in attendance were City Manager Lehman Walker, Environmental Manager Lynette <br />Hicks, and Public Works’ intern Jennifer Wendt and members of the Green Practice <br />Commission. <br /> <br /> Jerry Breakstone <br /> <br /> Lois Sechrist <br /> <br /> Helen Fuller <br /> <br /> Neville Rapp <br /> <br /> Dianne Benjamin <br /> <br /> Tim Michels <br /> <br /> Jeffrey Mishkin <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch opened the Study Session asking if there were any changes that needed to <br />be made to the evening’s agenda. City Manager Mr. Walker asked that Resolution 2012 – <br />10 be postponed until the next Council meeting as negotiations were continuing. Mr. Crow <br />asked to remove his nomination of Frederick Fehr III to the Arts and Letters Commission <br />until a later date. <br /> <br />Mr. Walker turned the meeting over to the Green Practice Commission and the presentation <br />was given by Commission Chair Lois Sechrist. This meeting was held to provide an update <br />from the Commission’s last presentation to Council. <br /> <br />Ms. Sechrist began with the introduction of the Commission members along with the staff <br />liaison, Lynette Hicks and the Council liaison Michael Glickert. <br /> <br />The definition of sustainability was given as “Meeting the needs of the present without <br />compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” <br /> <br />The Commission’s mission statement is, “The Green Practices Commission of University <br />City is to encourage sustainable practices and programs that improve the health and quality <br />of life of our community; restore and protect our natural resources; and strengthen our <br />economy.” <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
