<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Traffic Commission <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, Missouri 63130, Phone: (314) 862-6767, Fax: (314) 863-9146 <br /> <br />CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MINUTES OF THE TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />October 10, 2012 <br /> <br />At the Traffic Commission meeting of University City held in the Heman Park Community <br />Center, on Wednesday October 10, 2012, Commissioner Melcine Henderson called the <br />meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. In addition to Commissioner Henderson, the following <br />members of the commission were present: <br /> <br /> <br /> Stefany Brot <br /> <br /> Jackie Womack <br /> <br /> Carol Wofsey <br /> <br />Also in attendance was Councilmember Paulette Carr, Public Works and Parks Liaison <br />Angelica Gutierrez, City Engineer Sinan Alpaslan, P.E., Senior Public Works Manager <br />Lynnette Hicks and P.O. Shaun Margul, UCPD <br /> <br />Members not present were: <br /> <br /> Phyllis Blalock <br /> <br /> Michael Gingrich - Excused <br /> <br /> Catherine Nichols - Excused <br /> <br />Others present were: <br /> <br /> Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel Ave <br /> <br /> Margaret Johnson, 7509 Gannon Ave <br /> <br /> Sarah Hanly, 7050 Washington Ave <br /> <br /> Jane Schaefer, 501 West Drive <br /> <br />1. Approval of Minutes September 24, 2012. <br />The minutes of the September 24, 2012 were moved for approval by Commissioner Brot, <br />seconded by Commissioner Wofsey, and unanimously approved. <br /> <br />2. Request to install Stop Signs on Old Bonhomme Rd and Lafon Place. <br /> <br />Commissioner Henderson presented the request and asked Ms. Schaefer, resident at 501 <br />West Drive to present her request for installation of stop signs at southbound Old <br />Bonhomme Rd and Crandon and at northbound Old Bonhomme Rd and Lafon Pl. <br /> <br />Ms. Schaefer explained her concerns regarding safety and explained that many accidents <br />had happened at this complex intersection, one of them involving one of the Traffic <br />Commission members, Stefany Brot in 2012. The traffic safety is compromised to a point <br />where Ms. Schaefer often hears close call accidents mostly during the day. Ms. Schaefer <br />explained that the City provided pavement markings and added reflectorized “Keep to the <br />Right” signage at the median islands in order to enhance visibility at night, and now is time <br />to do something else. <br /> <br />Traffic Commission Minutes – October 10, 2012 Page 1 <br /> <br />
