<br />She said Chief Adams prepared his budget for FY 2013 and requested funding for <br />what he believed was necessary to do a professional job for this City. No one on <br />the Council is experienced in professional law enforcement. She felt Council is <br />was making a decision over the Police Chief’s head about what his staff should be <br />and this was all without consulting the Police Chief. Mayor Welsch stated this is <br />over $250,000 and the Chief should be consulted for his professional opinion. <br /> <br />Mr. Price said he requested data on criminal activity in University City and that did <br />not happen so he led the way on this project, dealing with it for a while, so he felt <br />he was very familiar with it. He said this was an issue, which involved five people <br />being killed, and now an expert would be needed, but there were no experts <br />needed when the City spent too much money for changes on projects or for a <br />$100,000 logo that nobody approved. Mr. Price stated that this matter is too <br />important and he Called the Question. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsh stated the Question had been Called. <br /> <br />Mr. Price requested a roll call vote. <br /> <br />Roll call vote was: <br />Ayes: Ms. Carr, Mr. Kraft, Mr. Crow, Mr. Sharpe, Mr. Price and Mayor Welsch <br />Nays: Mr. Glickert <br /> <br />The motion carried by a majority. <br /> <br />4. Resolution 2012 – 13 <br />A resolution to include street sweeping for private subdivision <br /> <br />streets. <br /> <br />Mr. Kraft moved for approval and was seconded by Mr. Glickert. <br /> <br />Ms. Anne Lewis, 825 Midland Boulevard <br />Ms. Lewis stated she was a trustee of ward 3 and was there to strongly support <br />Resolution 2012-13. She said that for the past ten years the trustees of her <br />subdivision have been systematically replacing the curb gutters and driving <br />entrances of the streets and would like to have the streets swept for proper <br />drainage to occur. <br /> <br />Mr. Edward McCarthy, 7101 Princeton Avenue <br />Mr. McCarthy stood in support of Resolution 2012-13 and stated to Council to <br />please vote positive. <br /> <br />Ms. Janet Baum, Representative for Ames Place, 6819 Pershing Avenue <br />Ms. Baum represents Ames Place and stated that they were in support of the <br />University City removal of snow and leaves from private streets on behalf of the <br />Ames Place residents. She also stated they were in the process of replacing gutter <br />and curbs to facilitate drainage. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe asked if it was possible for the City Attorney who was present to assist <br />on the legality of street sweeping and snow removal on private streets. <br />11 <br /> <br /> <br />
