She stated they are also looking for a restaurant of some type that might <br />provide breakfast all day or a diner; their intent is to keep with the character of The Loop. <br /> <br />Ms. Lewis asked about parking and with the potential of the trolley project, if it had been <br />incorporated into the proposal. <br /> <br />Ms. Adelstein stated it was her understanding that all street parking would remain and the <br />development does not change that. <br /> <br />Ms. Lewis asked about a previous statement about the loss of street parking. <br /> <br />Ms. Adelstein clarified that some parking on the alley would be lost but not street parking. <br /> <br />Ms. Locke asked about the plans for the duration of the project in terms of minority hiring. <br /> <br />Mr. Ackerman stated that Washington University had a great track record of being supportive of <br />minority participation for construction projects and it was being monitored carefully. He added <br />that the University has been recognized for their efforts and they see it as an opportunity for <br />soliciting the right kind of participation. He added that they have developed a plan for how to go <br />about making sure minorities are given an opportunity to fully participate in the project and <br />expect to have a good representative approach regarding this option. He stated he would be glad <br />to provide details on the history and success and what plans are specific to this project, as it is <br />important for all project. <br /> <br />There being no further comments, the work session closed. <br /> <br />Public Comments: Draft Parkview Gardens Neighborhood Sustainable Development Plan <br /> <br />Mr. Halpert provided introductory remarks reminding the public to fill out the speaker sheets and <br />submit them to staff and that when they come to the podium, he would like them to keep their <br />remarks to five minutes if possible. <br /> <br />Rick Salamon, resident at 6404 Cates, addressed the Plan Commission. <br />Mr. Salamon stated that overall the Plan is good. He stated that he had attended public meetings <br />over the last couple years and that he serves on the Parkview Gardens Board of Directors. He <br />added that he was speaking for himself, not any group. Mr. Salamon added that he was <br />community vision. He stated that on two occasions at public meetings he had written not to <br />build on the parking lot and that numerous people stated to not build on the parking lot behind <br />n about the lack of <br />parking and asked how many parking spaces would be taken up by the proposed condo residents. <br />He added that there are hundreds of condos proposed in the plan and removing the proposed <br />condos on this parking lot would not impact the plan. Mr. Salamon also stated that politically, <br />many are opposed to the plan, and one vision might be to expand the parking lot. <br /> <br /> <br />tm; E <br /> <br /> <br />
