<br />Ms. Carr also thanked the Mayor’s Task Force on Bike and Walkability. She stated <br />Council did not always agree on their outcome, but she appreciated their hard work. <br />Ms. Carr said the plan was phenomenal and their hearts were in it. She felt that the <br />Council could produce a resolution that would make everyone proud. Ms. Carr also <br />th <br />congratulated COCA on their 25 year. She said their presentation was fantastic and it <br />almost inspired her to take a hip-hop class for adults. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch piggy-backed on Mr. Walker’s comments regarding Fire Chief Miner for <br />his 32 years of service to University. She also stated that she hoped everyone <br />understood what a commitment of 32 years was to a community such as University City. <br />Mayor Welsch said the City’s emergency services personnel have chosen a hard career <br />and the City appreciates their work. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch said she spoke last Thursday at the Conservation Forum at the St. Louis <br />Zoo, sponsored by the Whitney and Anna Harris World Ecology Center. She said she <br />spoke about the efforts University City has put forth in sustainability for many years and <br />she noted her talk was well received. She said she learned a lot when she was <br />compiling information on all the efforts over the past years of how much the City has <br />accomplished. She said one of the organizers stated that it was clear that University <br />City is a leader in the effort towards sustainability. Mayor Welsch stated she was happy <br />to represent University City. Mayor Welsch said she talked to the fifth graders at <br />Barbara C. Jordan School about becoming active members in their community. She <br />also took a tour of the University City Children’s Center last week and got an update of <br />their plans for the Vernon facility. Mayor Welsch said, unfortunately she had to miss the <br />COCA event because she attended another event at the same time for the Epworth <br />Center. Mayor Welsch apologized for not being able to be there, but stated that the <br />community support shown at the Epworth Center and their commitment to stay in <br />University City was gratifying and she was glad to have them here in our City. <br /> <br />Q.
