Mr. Glickert moved for approval, of the amended Bill 9168 and was seconded by Mr.
Sharpe.

Mr. Price stated to the City Manager that this was also a forward attempt to him to get at
issues as it related to individuals who may pose a nuisance with some criminal activity at
their resident. He said this was a part of a total strategic strategy in relationship with the
cameras, crime prevention and awareness meetings, and focus group. He asked the
City Manager to explain some of the benefits and changes with the nuisance law.

Mr. Walker stated that this would be part of a packet to insure that the community
remains to be a safe environment. He said with respect to this particular nuisance law,
this would streamline and consolidate various tools that they have had in the past. He
said it also identifies specifically and defines very clearly, what are considered to be
criminal nuisances and allow the City to address problem properties, whether it is the
property itself or people who are living in the property..

Mr. Glickert asked the City Manager if he would see if the City could do a study of time
when the City has housing court is held. He believed this was one of the reasons the
City has problems because previously the City has had housing court in the evenings
and it was better attended. He said on top of an effective ordinance, they should have
services available in which the City can prosecute when they show-up.

Mr. Walker stated that he would like to look at the time as well as the location for
housing court. He noted that during the renovations in City Hall, housing court was at
the community center, which seemed to work very well.

Roll call vote was:
Ayes: Mr. Price, Ms. Carr, Mr. Kraft, Mr. Crow, Mr. Glickert, Mr. Sharpe
Mayor Welsch
Nays:

Bill 9168 carried unanimously and became ordinance 6901.

N NEW BUSINESS
RESOLUTIONS
None

O.
