<br />from the 89% of the last five years He said as of November 2, 2012, there were 436 <br />students who were on the honor roll, which was half of the attendance thus achieving <br />their goal of 50%. He said eight seniors scored 30 plus on their ACT Test and one <br />senior scored 35 which was one point away from a perfect score. Mr. Maclin said they <br />were expecting at least two National Merit Scholars from the school and that even a <br />school district like Maplewood-Richmond Heights has not had a National Merit Scholar. <br />He said that University City High School was the recipient of St. Louis Graduates Grant, <br />which pays for ten students to go through the Princeton Review which offers two $500 <br />scholarships to pay for books. He said the high school has the A+ certification <br />program, which would allow students to attend free of charge for two-years at a <br />community college or at one of the three local universities. <br /> <br />Mr. Maclin said the high school accomplishments were being the recipient of the Dow <br />Yearbook Award; two students were granted internships with Price Waterhouse Cooper <br />for accounting;two students finished the Chancellor Scholarship Competition for a full <br />scholarship to Missouri State University and Truman State University. In addition, Mr. <br />Maclin said 50 juniors would visit the University of Missouri, Columbia, the freshman <br />class to Forest Park Community College, the sophomore class to University of Missouri <br />St. Louis UMSL and the junior class to St. Louis University, SLU and seniors to <br />Southeast Missouri State University, SEMO. He stated in regard to athletics, the <br />football team placed second in districts, the volleyball team won district Championship <br />and the dance team won first place. <br /> <br />Mr. Maclin said UServ is a full community service project and 25 students will be <br />awarded the attendance at the Presidential Inauguration in 2013. Mr. Maclin presented <br />his administrative team present, to stand in recognition. <br /> <br />Mr. Price acknowledged Principal Maclin and his staff and spoke of his positive <br />discussion with students from the high school and their new respect for the school <br />regarding accountability and curriculum improvements. He also stated that he was in <br />support of the bond issue that the school would be proposing. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch stated that she and Mr. Walker have four lunches a year with the <br />Superintendent and the President of the School Board. She said she shared with <br />Superintendent Pruitt how it would benefit the district to publicize these test scores <br />student achievements and improvements in the school district to help our residents <br />understand the reality behind all the numbers, before another bond issue was <br />presented. <br /> <br />2.
