Session 1694, Minutes <br />May 5, 1997 <br /> <br />AGENDA NO. 3:7396 PERSHING <br /> <br />City Manager recommends approval of the site plan for a massage therapy office at this location, an office building on the <br />southeast corner of Jackson and Pershing. The applicant has met all ordinance requirements and appears to have all <br />appropriate certifications to carry out this type of therapy. <br /> <br />Mrs. Thompson moved approval. Mr. Munkel seconded, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />PERSONNEL REPORT <br /> <br />The Personnel report for the period ending May 2, 1997, was received and ordered filed. <br /> <br />BILLS FOR SECOND AND THIRD RFADING: <br /> <br />BILL NO. 8322 - AMENDING CHAPTER 34 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, AS <br />COMPREHENSIVELYAMENDED OCTOBER 19, 1970, BY ORDINANCE NO. 459 I, BY CHANGING THE <br />CLASSIFICATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED, AT OR NEAR 1525 NORTH AND SOUTH <br />FROM "LC" - LIMITED COMMERCIAL DISTRICT, TO "SR" - SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT, AS SET FORTH <br />IN SECTION 34-9 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE, BEING THE UNIVERSITY CITY ZONING CODE. <br /> <br />The bill was given its second reading. <br /> <br />The bill was given its third reading. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer moved adoption. Mr. Ware seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Munkel, <br />Wagner, Ueberman, Schoomer, Thompson, Ware and Mayor Adams. NAYS: none <br />Bill No. 8322 became Ordinance No. 6104. <br /> <br />FXFCUTIVE SESSION <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman moved that the Council meet in executive session at 8:00 p.m. in Room 6 of City Hall to discuss personnel <br />and legal matters. Mr. Wagner seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Ware, <br />Munkel, Wagner, Lieberman, Schoomer, Thompson and Mayor Adams. Nays: NONE. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mr. Munkel said that earlier this week, there was a newscast concerning lead poisoning at Fogerty Park on playground <br />equipment. He is very familiar with this type of problem. He wanted to reassure the citizens of University City that the City <br />was taking steps to correct this problem. The children are not being allowed to play on this playground equipment. Lead <br />poisoning is a serious problem, but is present in the City and we are doing what we need to do to correct the situation so <br />that our children are safe. <br /> <br />Mrs. Thompson wanted to commend the University City School District, the City and County of St. Louis for the Caring <br />Program, an after school extra learning program for students, which was highlighted on Channel 5 this afternoon at 6:00 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams commended Mrs. Thompson for the award she was presented from the National Sister to Sister program <br />this past weekend. <br /> <br /> <br />
