Session 1765
September 23, 1999

Unit Price Total

Downing Sales & Service
Delivery Time · over 60 days

$42.75 $21,375

Armor Equipment
Delivery Time - less than 42 days

$47.85 $23,925

The Public Works Department requested the carts be purchased from the
company which could supply them in the shortest time frame in order to get the
new program underway within grant schedule. These containers are 2/3 normal
size. Mr. Rose recommends awarding this purchase to Armor Equipment for
$23,925.00.

#5- Chamberlain Alley Bridge Repair Contract: Bids were solicited for the
construction of a new abutment wall necessitated by a large hole and void behind
the existing abutment for this bridge. Mr. Rose recommends acceptance of the
only bid submitted for this job from Schuster Engineering, Inc. in the amount of
$28,335.00. This company has done acceptable work of this nature for
University City in the past and is available to do the job very quickly. We would
like to proceed so that the alley can be reopened for residential and business
access as well as city services such as refuse collection. Funds are available in
the contingency account to cover this non-budgeted item.

Mr. Lieberman moved approval of the consent calendar. Mr. Schoomer seconded the
motion, which carried unanimously.

AGENDA #2 - SET PUBLIC HEARING DATE - 8644 & 8650 BARBY LANE
REZONING:

Mr. Rose recommends setting November 8 at 7:30 p.m. in these Council
Chambers as the time and place for a public hearing on the recommended
rezoning of two lots on Barby Lane from Single Family to High Density
Residential. A conditional use permit for a residential extended care facility at
this location will also be considered as part of the agenda for the November 8 City
Council meeting. The City Council's policy is to review the plans for the proposed
use before acting on the rezoning request.

Mr. Schoomer moved approval. Mr. Sharpe seconded the motion, which carried
unanimously.

3
