<br />Mr. Gregory Pace, 7171 Westmoreland <br />Mr. Pace stated that he brought a pea shooter to a gunfight. He said Council’s discussion <br />had gone on too long. He stated that he had an agenda and there was nothing on the <br />agenda about this topic being slated for discussion, and several members of Council came <br />loaded with pages of documents to discuss it. He said shame on them for not having the <br />guts to put it on the agenda so he and other citizens could do their research. He said he <br />needed the State Statutes in front of him as well. Bill 9177 – <br />An ordinance amending various sections of Chapter 10, vehicles and traffic, to <br />revise various traffic regulations as provided herein. <br /> <br />O. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION <br />None <br /> <br />P. COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Mr. Glickert congratulated the presenters of the Chinese New Year celebration on Olive last <br />Saturday. He said all the parking lots were filled with people and it was a pleasure to see <br />commerce taking place along with the celebration. Mr. Glickert apologized about Reverend <br />Brown’s basketball situation, because he probably played in that yard as a kid too. He said that at <br />the City Council Goals Setting Session the subject was raised that the City should have a park, with <br />a basketball court in the northeast quadrant of University City. Mr. Glickert said they had one at <br />Pershing School where he used to play, but that was removed during renovations of the school. He <br />said that it is something that the City is working on and hoped to get something over there because <br />the kids do have a right to play in a park-like setting within their neighborhood. Mr. Glickert noted to <br />the City Manager that other communities have their city’s website posted on the police cars. He <br />asked the City Manager to speak with the police chief and see if that was something to consider for <br />University City. <br /> <br />Mr. Price said he read in the Patch the good things the school district is doing. He said it were at <br />least 12 or 13 athletes at the high school that received scholarships to colleges, which meant they <br />were eligible academically to get into a university. He congratulated the school district for their <br />continued good work and the excellent job Coach Reed has done. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch noted on February 12 at 10 am at Heman Park Community Center, she was hosting <br />a meeting of religious leaders from throughout University City. She was bringing them together so <br />they can get to know each other; share information about community support programs and <br />services they provide through their institutions. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch reminded residents of an upcoming Safety Seminar, February 12 at 6:00 p.m. at <br />Barbara Jordan Elementary School. <br /> <br />She also reminded residents of a design charette for the City-owned property at the northeast <br />corner of Olive and North and South on February 19 at 6:30 AT Heman Park Community Center. <br />Mayor Welsch noted those attending will have the opportunity to share their ideas on the types of <br />development the City should try to attract to that corner. <br /> <br />11 <br /> <br /> <br />
