CITIZEN PARTICIPATION (Total of 15 minutes allowed) <br /> Ms. Linda Locke, 6925 Cornell <br /> Ms. Locke read a statement from her husband State Representative Rory Ellinger regarding his <br />support for the Proposition U bond issue. He was unable to be present for this meeting. The <br />statement described what the bond issue/Proposition U would create, support and maintain in the <br />University City school district. It stated that Proposition U would make the schools safer, more <br />accessible and would affect future generations in a positive way. <br /> <br /> Reverend B. M. Brown, 6627 Bartmer <br /> Reverend Brown said she has spoken with Mr. Walker and Mr. Sharpe regarding the seriousness of <br />her neighbors playing basketball. She said she had tolerated her next door neighbors for months <br />regarding the youth playing basketball ball and their ball coming into her backyard. She said the <br />youth would knock on her door at all hours for her to go outside to get the ball or the youth would <br />climb her fence when she was not home to retrieve the ball and she did not feel safe as a senior <br />citizen living alone. She wanted to know what the Council could do to help her. <br /> <br />I. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> None <br /> <br />J. CONSENT AGENDA <br /> None <br /> <br />K. CITY MANAGER’S REPORT <br />Mr. Walker introduced Mr. Adam Long as the new Fire Chief for University City. <br /> <br />Mr. Long assured the Council and the City of University City that residents would continue to <br />receive the same high quality of service from the Fire Department that they received in the past. <br />He also stated that he would be looking at things that worked and for ways to improve service in <br />the most cost effective manner. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch welcomed Mr. Long to University City. <br /> <br />City Manager Mr. Walker continued with the City Manager’s report. <br />1. <br />Five new patrol cars for total price of $105,175.00. The staff recommended approval of five <br />patrol cars from Don Brown Chevrolet for a total of $105,175.00. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert moved to approve the new patrol cars, was seconded by Ms. Carr and the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />2. <br />Kuhlmann Design Group to provide design and construction engineering services for Westgate <br />Ave and Olive Blvd intersection realignment and traffic signal project at a cost not to exceed <br />$76,836.72 with a City match up to $15,367.34 and a Federal match of $61,469.38. The staff <br />recommended approval to grant authority to the City Manager to sign and enter into the <br />contract with the Kuhlmann Design Group, Inc. <br /> <br />Mr. Crow moved to approve the City Manager to enter into a contract with Kuhlmann Design <br />Group for providing design and construction engineering services for Westgate Ave and Olive <br />Blvd intersection realignment and traffic signal project, was seconded by Mr. Sharpe and the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
