<br /> <br />MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY HALL <br />6801 Delmar Blvd. <br />City of University City, Missouri 63130 <br />January 14, 2013 <br />6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />At the Regular Session of the City Council of University City held on the fifth floor of City Hall, <br />on Monday, January 14, 2013, Mayor Shelley Welsch called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. <br />In addition to the Mayor, the following members of the Council were present: <br /> <br />Mr. Byron Price <br />Ms. Paulette Carr <br />Mr. Stephen Kraft <br />Mr. Terry Crow <br />Mr. Michael Glickert <br />Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br /> <br />Also in attendance was the City Manager Lehman Walker. <br /> <br />C. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />Agenda approved as submitted. <br /> <br />D. PROCLAMATIONS <br />Ms. Edna Foxworth, 6852 Julian Avenue <br />Ms. Foxworth thanked the Mayor, City Councilmembers and the City Manager for <br />allowing her to speak in honor of Richard Dockett. She said Richard Dockett has been <br />steadfast in the community and stated that she and others were very proud of him. She <br />also sent regards on behalf of Betty Thompson who was not able to attend the meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Rory Ellinger, State Representative, 6925 Cornell <br />Mr. Ellinger stated that it was the day of the inauguration in Jefferson City, but he could <br />not miss the opportunity to attend the University City Council meeting in honor of his <br />good friend, Richard Dockett. He said he continues to learn more about Richard Dockett <br />and his service in the community, such as his longevity for being a champion for civil <br />rights and equality in the City. He also noted that Mr. Dockett played a big part in <br />University City by being on the committee regarding the architectural development of the <br />new Pershing Elementary School and helping with the Sutter Meyer House. Mr. Ellinger <br />also congratulated the City Council for the invitation to honor a wonderful community <br />member. <br /> <br />Mr. James Cotter, 1393 Eastover Avenue <br />Mr. Cotter stated that he and Richard Dockett were neighbors for around 30 years. He <br />said Mr. Dockett has been an activist in the community and in civil rights as shown by his <br />work with Pershing school to make sure students got an adequate education. Mr. Cotter <br />said he was happy that the Council gave Mr. Dockett a proclamation in his honor and felt <br />it was well deserved. <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
