Session 1766 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />October 4, 1999 <br /> <br />At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City held in the Council Chambers of <br />City Hall on Monday, October 4, 1999, Mayor Joseph L. Adams called the meeting to order <br />at 7:30 p.m. In addition to the Mayor, the following members of the Council were present: <br /> <br />Ms. Cassandra Colquitt <br />Mr. Wayne Munkel <br />Mr. Robert Wagner <br />Mr. Larry Lieberman <br />Mr. Paul Schoomer <br />Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br /> <br />Also present was City Manager Frank OIlendorff. <br /> <br />MINUTES: <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe moved approval of the regular session minutes from September 23, 1999. Mr. <br />Colquitt seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION - WORLD FOOD DAY: <br /> <br />Mayor Adams proclaimed October 16, 1999 World Food Day in recognition of the 1945 <br />founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization, which was formed to help build a more <br />food secure world. World Food Day is observed in 150 nations to build public awareness <br />and support for fighting world hunger. <br /> <br />MOMENT OF SILENCE - CHARLIE OCHS: <br /> <br />Mayor Adams said that he would like to have a moment of silence to honor a forever <br />member of our community who died last month - Charles Ochs. His support for this <br />community and its citizens was extraordinary. (A moment of silence followed) <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS: <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe moved the appointment of Ms. Calla Smorodin, 7414 Liberty, to the Arts and <br />Letters Commission for an unexpired term ending January 2, 2002. Mr. Wagner seconded <br />the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
