Session 1769 <br />November 8, 1999 <br /> <br />loose under a lease agreement with the City. This would require clean up and other things <br />of that nature. There were some complaints about the lack of air conditioning in the Rec <br />Center in the summer months. A group of young people and adults have been using the <br />Rec Center for pick up volleyball, which has become very popular. They want to continue <br />it, but they can't because of the upcoming soccer season. They are hoping one of the <br />school gyms could be used to continue the volleyball activity. <br /> <br />Mr. Munkel said at the last Library Board meeting it was reported that the new gates had <br />been installed. These replace the original gates that control people going out of the <br />building. The tuckpointing is coming along with the good weather. There will be a <br />children's center 1OK run on November 14th this weekend. All is invited to support this <br />event. On November 15th there is going to be a one woman show about Eleanor Roosevelt. <br />Home Depot has been secured as a sponsor for the Memorial Day Run. The funding <br />amount has not been arrived at as of yet. A future meeting will be held to further develop <br />this concept on November 18th. New computers have been received and they are trying to <br />get them on line. The next meeting is this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. All is invited to this <br />public meeting. <br /> <br />Ms. Colquitt said that CALOP had sent letters to all the nominees for their Academy <br />Awards. The Academy Awards has been set up for January 20, 2000. Everyone is invited. <br />At the Non-Uniformed Pension Board meeting, two new employees were approved for <br />membership. One application for retirement was accepted. The second application for <br />retirement was subject to the City Manager's approval of the doctor's statement. At the <br />Uniformed Pension Board meeting, one application for membership was approved. The <br />Board asked for an opinion on the investment of funds and a subcommittee was formed to <br />review various retirement plans. <br /> <br />M ISCELLAN EOUS AN NOU NCEM ENTS: <br /> <br />Mayor Adams announced that the Felicia Gayle Lecture Series would be at the History <br />Museum this Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. and all is invited. <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman reminded everyone that the Medve Group would be having a groundbreaking <br />ceremony at 2:00 p.m. on November 17th. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams announced the engagement of City Clerk Leisha Meine to Mr. Aaron <br />Forsythe. <br /> <br />CITY CLERK'S DOCKET: <br /> <br />No business. <br /> <br />12 <br /> <br /> <br />
