Mr. <br />Walker said the City would come back with some numbers. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe asked for money to be put in the budget for travel for Mr. Wilson to attend the <br />MML and the NLC to view all the services available for municipalities. Mr. Walker noted <br />there was money in the budget for Professional Development. <br /> <br />Mr. Kraft noted that $1.2 million was added to the budget last year for streets. He asked if <br />the concept this year would be to add more reserve money to do more streets. Mr. Kraft <br />said similarly would there be extra money from the reserves for additional tree trimming. <br /> <br />Ms. Carr asked about the 28, 29-thousand dollars last year to pay the Army Corp of <br />Engineers on the flood prone properties and where it stood. Mr. Walker stated that a <br />response is being prepared for Council and should be distributed the later part of the week. <br />Ms. Carr asked if there would be any budgetary steps the Council would need to move it <br />forward. Mr. Walker stated, not in FY14. <br /> <br />Mr. Price asked when Capital Improvements are looked at, if staff could look at some of <br />the unfunded items. Mr. Price asked for Millar Park improvements for $70K; alley repair <br />for $35K; and George, Purdue and Kennedy unimproved streets reconstruction for $350K. <br /> <br />Ms. Carr asked if CDBG funds could be used for unimproved streets in private <br />subdivisions who cannot afford them. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch noted that CDBG funds could only be used in certain neighborhoods <br />meeting certain income guidelines. Mr. Walker stated that he would provide clarification as <br />to how the CDBG money is distributed. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch asked if someone on staff could look at doing more City sponsored sport’s <br />leagues for children and adults and not have to depend on the U-City Sports’ Association <br />or Soccer Association. Mayor Welsch stated with the formation of a Chamber, she hoped <br />staff could work more closely with businesses in the City. Mayor Welsch would like to see <br />a more concerted effort in trying to get the Neighborhood Associations more active. She <br />also would like to see if the City could work with the state and the county on a job summit, <br />maybe a resource fair. <br /> <br />Mr. Walker proposed to put together a list and circulate the list. He said he would try to <br />schedule another meeting next week. Several Councilmembers stated they did not need <br />another meeting.
