<br />J. CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br />K. CITY MANAGER’S REPORT <br />1. <br />Youth Employment Program (YEP) <br />Mr. Walker called attention to the University City Youth Employment Program <br />Handbook prepared by Ms. Elaine Williams, the Human Resource Manager and <br />asked her to provide a brief overview of City’s hiring of 21 youth for the summer and <br />what the youth would be doing. <br /> <br />Ms. Williams noted the 2013 summer Youth Employment Program is scheduled to <br />kick off on June 10 and will run for ten weeks. She noted there will be an <br />educational component of the program and the young people will receive the <br />participants’ handbook that described the City’s expectations in detail. Ms. Williams <br />stated the participants will be working in various parts of the City: Fleet, Engineering, <br />Maintenance, Administration, Human Resources and Finance. The education <br />component of the program will be provided by the Junior Achievement and the <br />Community Credit Union. <br /> <br />Mr. Crow asked how many had applied for summer work. Ms. Williams stated <br />approximately 40 applied. <br /> <br />2. <br />Replacement of forestry aerial service truck with chipper body recommended to be <br />awarded to Altec Industries, for $152,631. <br />Mr. Price moved for approval of purchase of aerial service truck with chipper body <br />from Altec Industries for $152,631, was seconded by Mr. Sharpe, and the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />3. <br />Replacement of utility wheel loader/tool carrier recommended to be awarded to Luby <br />Equipment Services for $71,850. <br />Mr. Price moved for approval of a utility wheel loader to be awarded to Luby <br />Equipment Services for $71,850, and was second by Mr. Sharpe and the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />4. <br />Replacement of utility tractor recommended to be awarded to Art’s Lawn Mower <br />Shop for $31,132. <br />Mr. Sharpe moved for approval of a utility tractor to be awarded to Art’s Lawn Mower <br />Shop for $31,132, was seconded by Mr. Glickert and the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />5. <br />Liquor License for Pedal Pedal, Frida’s Vegetarian Deli, 622 North & South Rd. <br />Ms. Carr moved for approval of the liquor license and was seconded by Mr. Crow. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert asked City Manager about its location near a school and asked if the <br />School District was okay with liquor license award. Mr. Walker stated that the district <br />was. <br /> <br />The approval of the liquor license for Pedal Pedal carried unanimously <br /> <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br /> <br />
