He <br />said the flag that we do our work for is critical to honor and protect. Mr. Price noted that <br />in 1862, President Lincoln signed an Article called the Emancipation Proclamation. He <br />th <br />said Black people consider June 19 as their Independence Day. Mr. Price said parallel <br />to the situation now are the people fighting for their citizenship of all of the people <br />migrating into America. He hoped to put on the record, June-teenth as part of <br />consideration this month to celebrate the freedom for Black people. <br /> <br />P. COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Mr. Sharpe said for Mr. Price, Ms. Carr and Mr. Kraft, noting he was not in the sun and <br />suggested they find the right person to get a shade. Mr. Sharpe noted U City In Bloom <br />continue to do a marvelous job the University City and wanted to compliment them. <br /> <br />Mr. Crow congratulated Nicole Adewale in being named one of the 2013 class of most <br />influential business women in St. Louis. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert asked the City Manager about pods, waste hauler bins on property and went <br />on record saying that is something the City needs to look at a little closer. He verified <br />with the City Manage that right now there is a 30 day limit of pods on streets. Mr. Glickert <br />noted he had the distinct pleasure of going to a ribbon cutting on McKnight for the Faith <br />Group which is an IT company that specializes in security systems for airports. He <br />brought this up since in our heighten awareness of economic development, this company <br />bought the building at Bonhomme and McKnight, bringing in twenty positions and have <br />nine other employees nationwide. He said during the ribbon cutting, they alluded to the <br />possibility of expanding already by adding an additional story. He asked them why <br />University City and how did the City do in working with them. They told him they were <br />very pleased with the handling of construction as it pertained to different City <br />departments and they liked the location; the ingress-regress of McKnight and I170 and <br />also Olive Street Rd and I170; and the appeal of the variety of restaurants on Olive and <br />at Delmar & McKnight. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch noted she was unable to attend the second annual MUNI award and <br />installation ceremony. The City of University City was awarded an innovation award for <br />the Loop Trolley and the proposed installation of the high speed fiber in the trolley trench. <br />Public Works and Parks Director Richard Wilson attend the ceremony on the City’s <br />behalf and Mayor Welsch had the City Clerk pass out the remarks that were made that <br />night. The Starlight Concert series started and continue for the next six or seven Monday <br />nights from 6:30 to 8:30 in Heman Park. They are free concerts. Mayor Welsch noted <br />tomorrow night at 7:00 for the next six or seven weeks; the U City summer band concerts <br />start at the market in the Loop. She noted a new tailor shop will officially open at 6824 <br />Olive with a ribbon cutting, Smithrose NYC Style. Mayor Welsch reminded everyone of <br />the Fair U City planning committee meeting the next evening. <br /> <br />Q.
