<br />Traffic Commission <br />6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, Missouri 63130, Phone: (314) 862-6767, Fax: (314) 863-9146 <br />Commissioner Wofsey presented the motion for the residents to work with Public Works staff on a <br />petition to address the concern of the residents regarding both intersections in the original request with <br />signatures over 75% of the affected household area as follows: Jackson Avenue from Ahern Avenue to <br />Chamberlain Avenue; Drexel Drive from Jackson Avenue to Purdue Avenue; and Purdue Avenue from <br />Drexel Drive to Chamberlain Avenue. <br /> <br />Motion was seconded by Commissioner Tunstall and carried by the majority. <br /> <br />4. Annual Report Revised <br /> <br />Commissioner Wofsey presented this item and explained that the Charter required that an annual <br />report be submitted to Council, but is not specific to the details and parameters contained in the report. <br /> <br />The format presented to the commission has been the one used recently and some additional <br />information was requested to be included, such as a signature line for approval of the Commission, <br />dates to match the beginning and end of City’s fiscal year. Approval of the report is expected at the <br />July meeting. <br /> <br />Commissioner Brot and Wofsey requested some minor edits that will be amended and presented to <br />the Commission at the July meeting. <br /> <br />5. Municipal Code Chapter 2.36. Traffic Commission <br /> <br />Traffic Commission section of the code was discussed to encourage more awareness of the <br />Commissioners on their role to advise the Council. The education element was discussed and City <br />staff will keep past practice to bring to the Commission a training session each September, and also <br />bring material similar to the item #6 on this agenda, where there is outreach to the community <br />regarding traffic and parking matters. <br /> <br />6. Parking Lot No.1 Informational Newsletter article – Informational <br /> <br />The newsletter article was presented to the commission and the malfunctioning of the pay station was <br />discussed. Ms. Gutierrez informed the commission that City staff is working on improving the <br />functionality of the pay station. <br /> <br />7. Mock Roundabout – Update <br /> <br />Ms. Gutierrez explained the proposed schedule for the temporary roundabout as outlined below, with <br />the addition of a University Heights No. 1 statement regarding encroachment into their subdivision. <br />Councilmember Carr added that City Staff is working to obtain a new design of the roundabout to <br />alleviate the private subdivision’s concern. <br /> <br /> <br /> Presently working with County to get permit to narrow to one lane each way between Lions Gate <br />and Big Bend Blvd. <br /> <br /> Webpage and Patch educational material on “How to Drive a Roundabout” soon. Will also <br />produce a handout. <br /> <br /> Surveyor will layout roundabout on the ground in the next couple of weeks. <br /> <br /> Street crew will begin removal of lights and octagons in the next couple of weeks as fill-in-work. <br />Traffic Commission Minutes – June 12, 2013 Page 6 <br /> <br />
