Mayor Welsch met with staff members from Congressman Clay’s office, and from the
offices of Senator Clair McCaskill and Roy Blunt. She made a personal plea to
remember U City’s needs during federal budget discussions. She also met with the
new director of MSD. She asked MSD to attend the community meeting and to share
what their plans are for University City, much of the work they are planning to do to
deal with what flood issues that could take place over the next generation. Mayor
Welsch said she was also told that someone from Mr. Dooley’s office in St. Louis
County would attend. She also invited Ms. Hazel Erby and Mr. Pat Dolan, from the St.
Louis County Council, to attend. Mayor Welsch reminded people of the Sutter Meyer
House last open houses for the summer this weekend and the Fair U City planning
meeting on Tuesday evening.

Mr. Price asked the City Manager to get some clarification of the ownership of the
channel because at the last meeting it was mentioned that the residents owned part of
it and in the sixteen years he has been in University City, he never heard of the
residents owning any part of it. Mr. Price said that disturbed him as it allowed MSD to
abdicate its responsibility for that channel. He said the City cannot have MSD pushing
its responsibility for the channel away.

Mayor Welsch stated that MSD would speak on that in general terms at the upcoming
meeting. MSD said they were limited in what they could say because of some on-
going litigation.

Q. ADJOURNMENT

Mayor Shelley Welsch adjourned the meeting at 7:49 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Joyce Pumm
City Clerk, MRCC/CMC

12
