He asked that Council su~ their pro~.m~, noting that a $5 mil- <br />lion pr~ect for renovation of 67 units is just getting urr~ way, with clos- <br /> <br />located to Parkview Gardens in the p=u~osed b~w~et be ~-~ed to $95,000. <br /> <br />F~. Joan Botwinick, 511 Westview Drive, volunt~r coordinator of the Fixx-Up <br />Fund for ~r]equate Housing for Missourians, said she admired Mr. Cottc~'s cre- <br />ativity but u~4~ased his plan to r~allocate m~e than half of the revolving <br />loan fund, noting tb~ number of families on the waiting list has doubled <br />since last y~v. S~e was grateful that $10,730 was allotted for an <br />hcmB rep~ program, ~aa~ that very low ~ people had no place to turn <br />for ~n~rgency help. She said her organization has ~ helped 15 families <br />in the no~t area of University City and she encouraged the City to coor- <br /> <br />Ms. Shirley Ridu~ln, 840 Oakbrook Tane, thanked CcRmcil for its past and Ccrx- <br /> <br />Mrs. Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel, said a tentative project list was presen~a <br />at the public hearing; the samm~ list was present~ here with no changes, even <br />after a r, me~r of people ap[~ed at the hearing with their ia~ of how ~ <br /> <br />ing a public hearing. Also, four y~ was too lcrq to wait for a ~ im- <br />provement loan, and sceething should change. Mayer Majerus said more money <br />has been put in that program in recent years. Mrs. Glickart suggested that a <br />professional architectural landscape ~a~ign for Olive Boulevard would be a <br />much better use of mmey now allocatea~ for Etzel Avenue r~klirs. Also, as <br />much mmley as possible should go into the revolving loan fund, and if people <br />are not repaying, a strong effort should be m~a~ to ~ that roomy. <br /> <br />Mr. O. C. C8111es, 1235 Partridge, said he suppo~_~_ Mr. CUttcm's r~a!location <br />of fualds, and ~ Council to vote in favor. <br /> <br />Mr. ~harles Willis, 6810D (b~apeake Drive, re~reeenting ~OPE (Housing Op- <br />ticms Program for the Elderly), said althouc~h based in the Shaw area of St. <br /> <br />sharing m~ng the elderly, and be was pl~ed to ~ a .cm~l l allocation in <br />the University City C~mmmity Devel.oIw~nt k~_~w~ge~t for this purpcee. <br /> <br />Mr. Byron Price, 1520 78th Street, supported Mr. Cotton's rec~.!~n~atic~s and <br />said be felt too much money wes going to Parkview Gardens. He said there was <br />a tena~ncy to allocate the same way every y~a~, and be did not undePstara why <br /> <br />~-~t part of University City that are eligible for funding. <br /> <br />Mr. Herbert Lane, 7365 Melrose, agreed with Mr. Cotton's rec~,~endaticrs and <br />said sumthlng must be d~ne about Olive Boulevard, parts of which are ugly <br />and a dis~ace to University City. <br /> <br /> <br />
