Meeting Minutes –University CityGreen Practices Committee <br />September 12, 2013-Page 3 <br />(1)Dianne informed Mitch Leachman at St. Louis Audubon that the Commission endorsed the <br />Bring Conservation Home program that will allow University City <br />program at half the cost for $25. <br />(2)Lynnette mentioned that the next step is to draft a resolution f If <br />Dianne can provide information about the BCH program, she will l a template for the <br />resolution and create a draft to review during the October meeti <br />(3)Dianne mentioned that the Community Development inspection staff might need training on <br />native plants. She has native plants and her lawn was recently cited for weeds and she is <br />working with the City inspector on that issue. Lynnette will send Diannes request to the <br />supervisor in the Community Development Department. <br />f.University City Waste Management Survey Lois Sechrist <br />(1)Lois has been working on ideas on how to approach developing a b <br />Currently the City does not provide recycling collection service <br />account. Businesses must work with their hauler to establish recycling collection. She has <br />talked to Ellen Bern with the Chamber of Commerce and Jean Ponzi with the Missouri <br />Botanical Gardens about the survey. <br />(2)Lois has developed a draft list of survey questions and will send them to Commission <br />members to review. <br />(3)Tim mentioned that Lois could contact John Haasis at the St. Louis County Health Department <br />for information on a county-wide waste management survey and the St. Louis-Jefferson Solid <br />Waste Management District residential recycling survey. <br />(4)Lois would also like to work on developing a team of volunteers to conduct a door-to-door <br />survey. Maybe local students would be interested. <br />g.Protocol for Social Media updates Scott Eidson <br />(1)Scott discussed updating the Green Practices Commission webpage it more user <br />friendly and establishing a system for members to provide Lynnet <br />on a regular basis to post on the U City Twitter account. Commis <br />tips. <br />(2)Lynnette checked with the IT Department about adding drop down menus; however, the City <br />does not currently have that option with the current website package. Members agreed to <br />review the screen print of the webpage during the October meetin <br />7.Reports <br />a.Councilmember Glickert <br />(1)He suggested that Lois or Lynnette contact the Citys marketing and public relations agency <br />for ideas on developing a survey. <br />(2)Council postponed a decision on Community Improvement Districts <br />Louis. A CID could provide an opportunity for U City and St. Louis city to possibly coordinate <br />development projects along Delmar. The challenge still seems to be trying to diversify and <br />balance the types of businesses in the area. <br />(3)Lois requested an update on the status of the sustainable green attributes of the new <br />Walgreens building and Mr. Glickert will check on that project. <br /> <br />
