Meeting Minutes –University CityGreen Practices Committee September 12, 2013-Page 3 (1)Dianne informed Mitch Leachman at St. Louis Audubon that the Commission endorsed the Bring Conservation Home program that will allow University City program at half the cost for $25. She has native plants and her lawn was recently cited for weeds and she is working with the City inspector on that issue. Lynnette will send Diannes request to the supervisor in the Community Development Department. f.University City Waste Management Survey Lois Sechrist (1)Lois has been working on ideas on how to approach developing a b Currently the City does not provide recycling collection service account. Businesses must work with their hauler to establish recycling collection. She has talked to Ellen Bern with the Chamber of Commerce and Jean Ponzi with the Missouri Botanical Gardens about the survey. (2)Lois has developed a draft list of survey questions and will send them to Commission members to review. (3)Tim mentioned that Lois could contact John Haasis at the St. Louis County Health Department for information on a county-wide waste management survey and the St. Louis-Jefferson Solid Waste Management District residential recycling survey. (4)Lois would also like to work on developing a team of volunteers to conduct a door-to-door survey. Maybe local students would be interested. g.Protocol for Social Media updates Scott Eidson (1)Scott discussed updating the Green Practices Commission webpage it more user friendly and establishing a system for members to provide Lynnet on a regular basis to post on the U City Twitter account. Commis tips. (2)Lynnette checked with the IT Department about adding drop down menus; however, the City does not currently have that option with the current website package. Members agreed to review the screen print of the webpage during the October meetin 7.Reports a.Councilmember Glickert (1)He suggested that Lois or Lynnette contact the Citys marketing and public relations agency for ideas on developing a survey. (2)Council postponed a decision on Community Improvement Districts Louis. A CID could provide an opportunity for U City and St. Louis city to possibly coordinate development projects along Delmar. The challenge still seems to be trying to diversify and balance the types of businesses in the area. (3)Lois requested an update on the status of the sustainable green attributes of the new Walgreens building and Mr. Glickert will check on that project.
