<br />Mayor Welsch said if anyone has an idea(s) on how the City of University City may <br />join together to do volunteer work, they can contact the Department of Community <br />Development at 314-505-8500. Make a Difference Day is a National Day of Service <br />and will occur on Saturday October 26. She noted past City efforts have included <br />River Des Peres cleanups, alley cleanups, Olive Blvd cleanups, a park playground <br />project, minor home assistance to seniors and more. The Olive Blvd cleanup will be <br />one of the projects for this year and the others TBD <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch stated she attend the Missouri Municipal League with Councilmember <br />Sharpe and would provide an update at a future meeting. Mayor Welsch noted she <br />took part in the Walk to School Day event to Flynn Park Elementary School. She also <br />attended a Historic Preservation Commission meeting. Mayor Welsch noted she <br />attended the very successful UCity in Bloom Garden Tour. She stated the Police <br />Department Focus Group will meet September 24th at the Heman Park Community <br />Center at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Ms. Carr stated she worked for the UCity in Bloom and it was a wonderful event and <br />saw neighbors and people from St. Charles and South County. She said there was <br />someone from the Missouri Botanical Gardens who expressed interest in what we are <br />doing in UCity. Ms. Carr reminded everyone that Style in The Loop event will be held <br />on Sunday, September 29. She said Style in the Loop is a part of the St. Louis <br />Fashion week, which is a big feather in the City’s hat showing off the Loop. Ms. Carr <br />stated a police memorial will be held at All Saints after the 10:00 mass and all are <br />welcome. <br /> <br />Mr. Price asked the City Manager to find out how much was in the Economic Retail <br />Sales Tax Fund for Olive St. Road, and to look at the feasibility of using the funds to <br />purchase the Goodwill building, if it becomes available or vacant. <br /> <br />Mr. Crow stated he would like an update on the City’s public relations firm and the <br />effort they have and are expending. He noted he would like to see what the Brighton <br />Agency is up to for the City. Secondly he asked for an update on City’s litigations. <br />Mr. Crow welcomed Troop 493, stating it brought childhood memories. Mr. Crow <br />seconded the Mayor and Ms. Carr’s comment commending UCity in Bloom for putting <br />together an incredible event, an organization that works for the benefit of our City. <br /> <br />Mr. Price thanked Troop 493 for coming and asked the troop questions about what he <br /> <br />remembered from when he was a Boy Scout. <br /> <br />Ms. Carr thanked troop 493 for coming and hoped that they will successfully complete <br />their merit badge on community involvement but also consider community <br />involvement as they move through the coming years. <br /> <br />Mr. Kraft said Council needed to set a meeting date and time. Mayor Welsch noted it <br />would have to be Thursday, Friday or Monday and Mr. Price asked if it could be done <br />in the early morning. Mr. Glickert said a public hearing should be in the evening. <br /> <br />Mr. Walker suggested next Monday at 6:30 p.m. The majority of Council were in <br />consensus for this time. <br />7 <br /> <br /> <br />
