Mrs. Schuman congratulated Ms. Allmun on being a finalist in the <br />National AchievemBnt Prc~m. <br /> <br />Mr. Jack Rice, 7146 ~, asked Council to ccrsider passing an ordinance <br />requiring tow trucks that pick up wrecked cars to ~L~ve glass and debris <br />f~uL~ the street at the location where the wreck occurred. He also suggested <br />that gum trees be ~dually ~L,3Ved and re~31aced with other kinds that don't <br />shed so baavily. His third concern had to do with yaxd waste, noting that <br /> <br />waste at all, and never receive a fine or other penalty whem~ conscientious <br />c~ners ~t pay $1 a beg to have their yard waste collec~a~, <br /> <br />Mr. Carl Cibulka, 1421 Coolidge, said although University City does not allow <br />them, many adjacent c~m~unities allow billboards that advertise alcohol and <br />tobacco. He felt that all signs advertising alcohol and tobacco in Universi- <br />ty City should be banned. He said it upsets him terribly that the goverrment <br />receives benefits (ta~as) f~u. the sale of alcohol and tabacco. <br /> <br />AdoDtin~ Local Rules for the ]~egulatice~ of e~hle Television Rates <br /> <br />The City Clerk said this resoluticm adepts local rules for regulating cable <br />television rates so as to clarify possible ambiguities between Article III, <br />Section 4 of the original f~ and the new federal rules. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoceer moved approval. Mr. ~a~ms seconded the motion, which carried <br />unanimously. Tne resolution will be part of the permanent record. <br /> <br />St~in~ Crime and Violence in Our Cities and Towns <br /> <br />The City Clerk said this resolution asks the U. S. CcT~uss to enact anti- <br />crime legislation Lmmeiiately so that the resources and programs pruvided by <br />such legislatic~ may be used on a timely basis to deal with the critical <br />problems of crime and violence. <br /> <br /> <br />
