Following the hearing, appro- <br />priate legislation may be introduced. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus c~_ned the public hearing at 7:40 p.m. <br /> <br />Ms. Ann Lever, 625 N. Euclid, representing Oxford House An~herst, spoke in op- <br />position to the pk~Lcsed amendments. She said Oxford House cannot survive <br />with less than 10 members, which is more than the pk'ciuosed legislation allows <br />She pointed out that a recent court decisien found evidence of intentional <br />discrimination1 when tba City of St. Louis passed a new zoning ordinance in <br />the middle of litigation, a situatic~ similar to that in University City. In <br />the same decision, the court held that when zoning prDvisions like those be- <br />ing p~upoeed permit eight or fewer in ~uup homes in residential districts, <br />such provisions have a a~criminatory effect on Oxford Houses since they re- <br />~H~e more than eight members.
