<br />Traffic Commission <br />6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, Missouri 63130, Phone: (314) 505-8560, Fax: (314) 862-0694 <br />staff suggests moving the parking restriction alone would probably be affective in solving this problem. <br />Commissioner Wofsey suggested that this issue stay open at this time to see what further can be done <br />about this problem. <br />Commissioner Hales proposed that the City restrict parking near alleys and driveways (40ft No parking <br />for Vans, Trucks, or SUVS). <br />Public Works and Parks Liaison, Angelica Gutierrez advised that there is no legislation in the City’s <br />traffic code to restrict parking of Vans, Trucks, or SUVs’, nevertheless that does not mean that it can’t <br />be created. <br />Mrs. Gutierrez recommended that staff approve the parking restriction. No left turn restriction can be <br />discussed later on if the needed. <br />Commissioner Hales made a motion to defer this item to next month’s meeting. Motion failed to get <br />a second. <br /> <br />Commissioner Barnes made a motion to remove parking from the North side of Delmar East of North & <br />South Road (40ft) and seconded by Commissioner Brot. <br /> <br />Roll Call vote was: <br />AYES: Mr. Barnes, Ms. Brot, Mr. Tunstall, Ms. Creer <br />NAYS: Mr. Hales, Mr. Womack, Ms. Wofsey <br /> <br />Motion carried by the majority of the votes and will be forwarded to the City Council for adoption. <br />Commissioner Barnes made a motion to have the Commission recommend to City Council to amend <br />the traffic laws to allow parking restrictions for compact cars only. Motion was seconded by <br />Commissioner Brot and unanimously approved. <br />4. Petition to prohibit parking on Center Ave from Delmar Blvd to Gannon Ave <br /> <br />Request to prohibit parking on Center Ave from Delmar Blvd to Gannon Avenue. Commissioner <br />Wofsey asked staff to present the petition and then asked the petitioner to come up and speak. <br />Petition was received from Jason Murray. <br />Resident Patrick Larkin was present and expressed concerns about no sidewalks on Center Ave thus <br />lots of residents are walking on the street. Secondly, it’s hard to get out of driveways on Center Ave <br />when vehicles are parked on Center Ave. <br />Commissioner Wofsey advised that the commission can move on this petition and make a <br />recommendation to council. <br />Commissioner Barnes made a motion to restrict the parking as requested.
