<br />Traffic Commission <br />6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, Missouri 63130, Phone: (314) 505-8560, Fax: (314) 862-0694 <br />Rita Aromando, 8415 Delmar <br />Mrs. Aromando stated that her building is a residential apartment building. There is parking in the back <br />of the building and she is against the parking restriction proposed in front of the building. <br /> <br />Commissioner Brot expressed her concern about the pedestrian crosswalk time. Mr. Dabler explained <br />that times are calculated based on a standard formula which is set up at installation time. <br />Observations can be made to determine if the time needs to be extended or not. Average age of those <br />crossing the street is 75. <br /> <br />To alleviate Mrs. Aromando’s concern, Ms. Gutierrez suggested reducing the length of the proposed <br />parking restriction on the north side of Delmar Blvd, from 240 feet to 170 feet, subject to St. Louis <br />County approval. Traffic Engineer Chris Brammeier did not have an objection with that proposal and <br />agreed to change if St. Louis County approves. <br /> <br />Commissioner Womack made a motion to give the project some more time and consideration. <br />Motion failed to get a second. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hales made a motion to recommend the revision of the Municipal Code to <br />restrict parking from McKnight Rd. to a point of 760ft West of Delcrest Dr. Motion was seconded by <br />Commissioner Brot, and unanimously approved. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hales made a motion to recommend the revision of municipal code to restrict parking <br />from Delcrest Dr. to appoint 320ft South of Delmar. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Brot, <br />and unanimously approved. <br /> <br />Commissioner Tunstall made a motion to recommend to the council that the municipal code be <br />revised to restrict parking on the north side of Delmar Blvd. from McKnight Rd., to a point of 170ft <br />East of Berick Dr. or such greater distance as may be required by St. Louis County. Motion was <br />seconded by Commissioner Brot, and unanimously approved. <br /> <br />3. POD’s – Storage units in the Right of Way <br /> <br />Commissioner Hales was grateful that this information was provided to the Commission and has no <br />further comments. <br />4. Traffic Commission Rules of Order – By-laws <br /> <br />The latest revisions to the Rules of Order or By-Laws prepared by Chairperson Commissioner Carol <br />Wofsey were presented to the Commission for review and comment. The changes are proposed to <br />clarify roles and responsibilities and are open for discussion. <br />Commissioner Wofsey discussed referencing the Sunshine Law and Roberts Rules of Order and <br />cleaning up the language in (Section: 3.1 and 3.2). <br />Commissioner Wofsey also discussed the lag time between a residents request and wanted to make it <br />clear that during the interim time period staff should continue to consult residents to give them factual <br />Traffic Commission Minutes – September 11, 2013 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
