though there was nothing now, but they would discuss Brighton’s involvement. Mr.
Glickert asked if this was a work in progress and Ms. Riganti agreed.

Mr. Gardner described the use of the website for results and follow-up making sure that
transparency prevails. Mr. Senturia asked how those who do not use the computer will
be able to get an update of the follow-up. Mr. Gardner stated that they could print hard
copies and could post in the library and elsewhere.

Mr. Gardner then discussed the implementation and economic development strategies,
to make sure that all in the future would understand and use the plan. He discussed the
Draft Comprehensive Plan document and the evaluation, revision and approval
processes.

Ms. Carr noted that the process for the City was approval by the Plan Commission and
submission to the Council for approval. The Council may send this back to the Plan
Commission for revision, and wanted to make certain that these requested revisions
were built into the contract, so that we would not want to pay more money to amend the
plan. Mr. Gardner assured her there would be no additional charges to amend the plan
prior to adoption. Ms. Riganti agreed that there is an understanding that this could be
an iterative process and that this is understood in the scope of work. Mr. Gardner
further assured her that we would never hear they say they had exhausted all their
meeting times.

Mr. Senturia stated that the Committee thought there might be themes arise during the
planning process, and work-groups of citizens would be created based on interest.
They coupled with the consultant would work through those ideas and these would be
incorporated into the draft Comprehensive Plan. He asked Mr. Gardner if the work-
groups were something Mr. Gardner could work with. Mr. Gardner assured him that this
would be part of the vision development.

MaryAnn Taylor-Crate from Added Dimensions will specialize in community
engagement. She stated she will concentrate on getting residents who are not normally
engaged to be actively involved in the process. Ms. Crate said she will even meet with
them one-on-one on their turf if that is what it will take in order to get a vision of what is
wanted for this community. She said they were planning to use both traditional and
non-traditional processes to engage the people. She said she would like to get youth
and senior input as to what their needs and visions are also and is committed to
meeting people where they are.

Ms. Locke noted it is possible that the new comprehensive plan can include new
processes for communication and community engagement, not just land-use planning.
She suggested the plan could include the more intangible aspects that make a
community vibrant.

Mayor Welsch thought the process could continue after the plan was completed and
that was her reason for asking if we could retain the website. She asked how detailed
the demographic and marking studies would be. Mr. Gardner responded that they
would look at the data projections as well as the historical trends. And would also define
market areas analyzing supply and demand and identifying what the opportunities are.

3
