4.a. Maintenance of Gates of Opportunity within the University City Civic Complex Historic District. Informational Only No Vote Requested Mayor Welsch addressed the HPC members regarding the maintenance of the Gates of Opportunity. She stated that the Historical Society had asked the City to move forward with an effort to review the condition of the gates and how to repair them if necessary. She stated that in 2011 a company was hired to look at the Lions and make recommendations for treatments and that Mr. Greatens had provided a copy of that report. Mayor Welsch stated that the City Manager had said he would put funds in the FY 2014 budget for someone to review the Lions and make recommendations to move forward. She added that this item would come back to the HPC for input at a later date. Sue Rehkopf, archivist with the University City Public Library provided additional background information about the maintenance of the lions and stated that the annual inspections that were supposed to have taken place did not and they needed to be examined. 4.b. Request for Qualifications Professional Consulting Services for University City, City Hall Annex: Historic Preservation Assessment Informational Only No Vote Requested Mr. Greatens stated that at the request of City Council, staff issued a Request for Qualifications for professional consulting services for assessment of the City Hall Annex to identify issues with the maintenance of the Annex. He stated that the HPC would be kept apprised as this project moved forward. 4.c.
