Session 1775 <br />February 12, 2000 <br /> <br />AGENDA #13 - STATUS REPORT ON MEMORIAL DAY RUN: <br /> <br />Mr. Rose reported that Home Depot will sponsor $20,000 for the Memorial Day Run. It is <br />not in writing yet, however. Volunteers includes the Green Center, staff members from the <br />Library & Chitdren's Center and U. City Police Department. Meeting coming up next <br />Wednesday for further details. <br /> <br />AGENDA *//14 & #16- NEW DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS: <br /> <br />A developer is trying to buy the CanterburyRVindcrest Apartment complex. The developer <br />wants to continue operating as apartments currently, but possibly high quality <br />apartments/condos and high quality retail in the future on both sides of the highway. Mr. <br />Ollendorff reported that staff had studied at length the diamond interchange for the 1-170 <br />and Olive area and it does seem to be a pretty good design, because it does not take up as <br />much land. He also talked with the Overland City Manager and asked him if they would be <br />willing to work with U. City on a common study of this area for future development. <br />Council was very enthusiastic about this plan. Monday afternoon will begin meetings for an <br />enhancement planning grant to include the area from Skinker out to 270; for the entire <br />Olive Blvd area. It was also reported that Beyer's Lumber maybe closing soon and moving <br />out to Eureka. U. City would like to see a MetroLink station at this site. <br /> <br />* Ms. Colquitt returned to the meeting at this point. <br /> <br />AGENDA #17 - SET NEXT STUDY SESSION MEETING: <br /> <br />All agreed that the next study session meeting would be held June 3, 2000 at 9 a.m. at <br />the Library. <br /> <br />MISCELLANEOUS: <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman informed Council of six or seven state bills that deal with several methods of <br />freezing property taxes on seniors. It appears there will not be any reimbursements or <br />appropriations for hold harmless school districts.
